The district has had the Continuity of Learning Plan approved. It is important for parents\/guardians to read it so you will know how things have changed since we first began remote learning. You can see it here: https:\/\/dearbornschools.org\/services\/dearborn-public-schools-continuity-of-learning-plan\/<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students, if you are turning in an assignment on Google classroom that was assigned 3\/16 – 4\/17, please email me that you have turned it in. (This DOES NOT <\/strong>apply to students who are up to date with assignments.) Google classroom doesn’t notify me when you hand it in. This is not necessary<\/strong> for current assignments that were made this week, 4\/20 – 4\/24. The most important thing right now is to start completing the work from April 20 through the rest of the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, some assignments are created by me and some are created by Mrs. Stetz. You should be doing all of them. This is similar to what we did in school but you might not have been aware of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Math<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reminders: When working on math, complete the concept development, the first video, part 1. Then, after your other work is completed, you can do the second and third short videos for fluency and the application problem. I recommend fitting these in at some point this week as a review of what we have done in the unit so far, so it stays fresh for the end of the unit review. Continue to keep up with Zearn as well, lessons 16-19. Fridays there will not be new math, so you can use that day for these activities if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week we are working on Geometry. You will need a ruler with cm, blank paper, scissors, and a set square. A set square is just another piece of paper or cardboard that has a right angle- 90 degrees. You can make one by tracing and cutting out a circle and folding it in 4 , or using a piece of a box. You will see it on the video. Save all these materials for the rest of the week. Have a piece of paper or a notebook to take some notes of math vocabulary as you do the lesson. This will help as the week goes on. Part of the lesson does ask for you to use a protractor. This is not mandatory and the video does not have us doing those parts. Today we are working on Module 5 lesson 16. We will create drawings of trapezoids. Problems 1a and 5 are optional if you own a protractor.You will complete homework numbers 1 and 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Science<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planning: I will be spacing the Mystery out over the week, a little part each day, with a quiz assignment on Thursday. If you prefer, you may pace yourself as needed, as you will have access to the whole Mystery and activity sheets for the week on Monday. I hope this gives you flexibly as needed at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this week’s Mystery, students develop their thinking about the predator\/prey relationships between living things. In the activity, Eat or Be Eaten, students play a card game in which they make food chains with predators and prey, and producers and consumers. The students who make the longest food chains win the game! Today, start the video and watch the exploration part. You should have your anchor phenomenon papers handy and a blank page to take notes during the Mystery this week. Answer the discussion questions within the Mystery on your blank paper. ELA: Reading: We will be reading and writing poetry this week. April is poetry month so there is an assignment on Readworks, “Spring Into Poetry” that is due tomorrow on three different types of poetry . Also, since Wednesday April 22 is Earth Day, there is an article of the day assignment on Readworks. The five articles should be done by the end of the day on Friday. If you want extra credit points you can do the Boost Articles or the Challenge Articles. Don’t forget that when you write in your Book of Knowledge you should be writing two or three facts from the article in complete and correct sentences. Also, do not copy and paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spelling: <\/strong> Don’t forget to go on Spelling City each day. You now have assignments and a final test assigned. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Studies:<\/strong> After the British were defeated and left Boston, they went to New York City to take it over instead. They sat in the harbor and kept ships from coming in so the people of New York City were unable to get supplies. Most Patriots left the city and hundreds of Loyalists came to New York City looking for protection. Let’s find out how the Patriots tried to get the British to leave New York City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
