{"id":102,"date":"2014-09-19T15:13:06","date_gmt":"2014-09-19T19:13:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bartonl\/?p=102"},"modified":"2014-09-19T18:23:55","modified_gmt":"2014-09-19T22:23:55","slug":"class-update-91914","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bartonl\/2014\/09\/19\/class-update-91914\/","title":{"rendered":"Class Update  9\/19\/14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was great to meet everyone at Open House!! \u00a0I&#8217;m so glad so many people could make it. \u00a0I would like to thank Mrs. Sleath and Mrs. Capote for volunteering to be homeroom moms this year. \u00a0I would also like to say thank you to Owen for his gift of Lemony Snicket&#8217;s &#8220;Who Could That Be at This Hour?&#8221; \u00a0Also a thank you to Jake I. for his gift of The Star Wars Science Fair Book.<\/p>\n<p>If you were unable to make it to Open House please contact me so we\u00a0can schedule a parent teacher conference.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong> We have been doing a lot of exciting learning in room 204!!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>We are learning about angles, lines, and polygons in math. \u00a0Our test will be on Thursday Sept. 25th. \u00a0A study guide has gone home with your student today. \u00a0They were also told to bring home their math materials so they could study.<\/p>\n<p>We have been studying maps and how to read them, the seven continents and five oceans, hemispheres, and cardinal and intermediate directions. \u00a0Students can study material on pages 4 &#8211; 17 of the Junior Geographer Atlas to prepare for next Wednesdays&#8217;s quiz. \u00a0A study guide has been given to your student.<\/p>\n<p>Science has us studying matter and its properties and the three states of matter. \u00a0The science text book, Science Studies Weekly, and various videos and songs have been used in our study.<\/p>\n<p>Adjectives and adverbs has been the focus in language. \u00a0We have also used them during Writer&#8217;s Workshop along with learning how to edit and revise our personal narratives. \u00a0The personal narrative should not be worked on at home.<\/p>\n<p>Students are reading everyday during Daily 5 in the classroom. \u00a0They should be reading 15 &#8211; 20 everyday at home.
