Each week, we will be learning and practicing a new \u201cword family\u201d. The lists will consist of three word family words and three sight words.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the week, students will be asked to correctly write those six words called \u201chot words\u201d. They will also be given four additional word family words called \u201ccold words\u201d. The cold words will be words they have been exposed to throughout the week; they just won\u2019t know what words they will be given until they are read orally during the spelling test.<\/p>\n<p>We do this in order to assess students on their ability to correctly apply the word families and understand that changing the beginning sound\/letter of one word can make a new word. I also give students a sentence to write at the end of the spelling test, this is strictly for practice, it will not be scored.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Spelling tests will be on Friday<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Week of March 4th<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>bun<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">fun<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">sun<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">we<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">he<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">has<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>*4 more surprise words that follow the spelling pattern*<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Families, Beginning next week, your child will be bringing home a list of spelling words.
