Thank-you to those that sent in something for Valentine\u2019s Day!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank-you to the children and families that came to STEAM NIGHT  last Tuesday!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important Dates \u2013Winter break- Feb. 17 \u2013 21- Please have your child\nread every day, as most of you do!  Go on\nZearn if you have a computer or make up math problems (especially stories with\nnumbers) and see if your child can add and subtract by carrying or borrowing\n(old words) bundling and unbundling is the new language we use.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Math help- <\/strong>Try this Eureka math help and games to make your child a top math\nstudent- <\/strong>https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc<\/strong><\/a>     It is also on my BLOG.   We will have an addition and subtraction\ntest when we return.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCIENCE \u2013 <\/strong>We continue to learn about bodies of water and landforms\n(earth science) in our unit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPELLING WORDS FOR NEXT WEEK ARE r-Controlled er, ir,\nur.   Please\ncontinue to point out the pattern of the spelling words each week and help your\nchild discover words with these patterns in their reading.  Soon, your child will be pointing these out\nto you, if they do not already.  A good\nidea is to get a blank notebook and keep a list.  Send them in for extra credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\ncontractions to study are: birch, burst, clerk, firm, fur, girl, herd, nerve, purple,\nreturn, shirt, third, term, verse, urge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Social Studies<\/strong>– We have started our new unit, How Do\nCitizens Live Together in a Community? \nIt covers diversity and also government. \nAsk your child if they know what government is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the question \u201cWhy do we form governments?\u201d is being\nexplored.  Basically, the answers are to\nbe safe, to make laws and to solve people\u2019s problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
