{"id":775,"date":"2020-02-07T09:52:30","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T14:52:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ballnic\/?p=775"},"modified":"2020-02-07T09:52:31","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T14:52:31","slug":"friday-february-7-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ballnic\/2020\/02\/07\/friday-february-7-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday, February 7, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Friday, February 7,\n2020 Mrs. Ballnik\u2019s Classroom News&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; My\nemail is <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:ballnic@dearbornschools.org\"><strong>ballnic@dearbornschools.org<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Field Trips- There are two field trips this year.&nbsp; Mrs. Herrod and I go on field trips\ntogether.&nbsp; One field trip is the same\nthroughout Dearborn.&nbsp; Second Grades go to\nthe Dearborn Historical Museum (more information will come later).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thank-you for sending in the field trip permission slips and the\n$5.00.&nbsp; There were 3 requests to be\nchaperones and we can have &nbsp;4, so\nthank-you for volunteering to go with us to the Cranbrook science museum.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important Dates \u2013Winter break- Feb. 17 \u2013 21<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On February 14, feel free to send in homemade or store-bought\nvalentines.&nbsp; There are 22 students.&nbsp; This is such a nice holiday that celebrates\ngiving to others.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Math help- <\/strong><strong>Try this Eureka math help and games to make your child a top math\nstudent- <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc\"><strong>https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; It is also on my BLOG.&nbsp;&nbsp; I am starting to call home when there is too\nmuch homework missing. &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCIENCE &#8211; <\/strong><strong>We are learning about bodies of water and landforms (earth\nscience) in our unit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SPELLING WORDS FOR NEXT WEEK ARE contractions.&nbsp; &nbsp;Please continue to point out the\npattern of the spelling words each week and help your child discover words with\nthese patterns in their reading.&nbsp; Soon, your\nchild will be pointing these out to you, if they do not already.&nbsp; A good idea is to get a blank notebook and\nkeep a list.&nbsp; Send them in for extra\ncredit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ncontractions to study are: aren\u2019t, can\u2019t, couldn\u2019t, doesn\u2019t, hadn\u2019t, haven\u2019t,\nhe\u2019ll, I\u2019ll, it\u2019ll, let\u2019s,&nbsp; there\u2019s,&nbsp; we\u2019ll,&nbsp;\nwho\u2019s, wasn\u2019t, you\u2019ll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>Social Studies<\/strong>&#8211; We have started our new unit, How Do\nCitizens Live Together in a Community?&nbsp;\nIt covers diversity and also government.&nbsp;\nAsk your child if they know what diversity is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now the question \u201cWhy do we form governments?\u201d is being\nexplored.&nbsp; Basically, the answers are to\nbe safe, to make laws and to solve people\u2019s problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;We will take the WIDA\nEnglish test for writing next week.&nbsp; &nbsp;WIDA testing is for those that take the\nEnglish Test.&nbsp;&nbsp; Encourage your child to\ndo well and they can test out of it.&nbsp;\nThere are 2 students that do not have to take it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank-you for making sure that your child reads with you at\nhome.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Friday, February 7, 2020 Mrs. Ballnik\u2019s Classroom News&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; My email is ballnic@dearbornschools.org Field Trips- There are two field trips this year.&nbsp; Mrs. Herrod and I go on field trips together.&nbsp; One field trip is the same throughout Dearborn.&nbsp; Second Grades go to the Dearborn Historical Museum (more information will come later).
