Field Trips- There are two field\ntrips this year.  Mrs. Herrod and I go on\nfield trips together.  One field trip is\nthe same throughout Dearborn.  Second\nGrades go to the Dearborn Historical Museum (more information will come later).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Field trip to Cranbrook Science Museum will be\non May 7th<\/sup>.  We have to\ncollect money now because they want to secure our spot.  Next Monday, I will send home the permission\nslip and ask for $5 for the field trip. \nPlease look for this and send it back.<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Important Dates \u2013Winter break- Feb.\n17 \u2013 21<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 14, feel free to send\nin homemade or store-bought valentines. \nThere are 22 students.  This is\nsuch a nice holiday that celebrates giving to others.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCIENCE – <\/strong>We are learning about bodies of water and landforms (earth\nscience) in our unit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPELLING WORDS FOR NEXT WEEK ARE r-controlled vowels:\nar, or, ore, and oar.   Please\ncontinue to point out the pattern of the spelling words each week and help your\nchild discover words with these patterns in their reading.  Soon, your child will be pointing these out\nto you, if they do not already.  A good\nidea is to get a blank notebook and keep a list.  Send them in for extra credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The words will be: adore, art, barn, car, corner, fork,\nharp, hoarse, order, mark, north, roar, store, thorn, target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Studies<\/strong>–\nWe have started our new unit, How Do Citizens Live Together in a Community?  It covers diversity and also government.  Ask your child if they know what diversity\nis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank-you for returning the envelopes from the report\ncards.  The next report card will be in\nMarch.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We start WIDA testing for those that take the English\nTest.  I will have a list of those on\nMonday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
