15 &#8211; NWEA computer reading tests will be on Tuesday\nand Wednesday next week,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;Please be sure that students\ncome in the morning on those days and get sleep and eat breakfast.&nbsp; I bring in a small \u00bd bagel and juice for\nthose days.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please make sure that your child has been reading and you are helping\nthem understand main ideas and sounding out words. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;Friday, January 17 -1\/2 day \u2013\nmorning only <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday January 22 and Thursday, January 23- NWEA computer math test<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Monday, January 20 (Martin Luther King Day) and \u00bd day on January 21-<\/strong>\n<strong>No school &amp;\n\u00bd day of school <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To help your child practice for the computer tests, please try prepdog,\nif you have a computer.&nbsp; Thank-you if\nyour child has been trying these practice tests, but if you could go over what\nthey miss, it would help them learn more.&nbsp;\nThank-you, if you are doing this.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Math help- <\/strong><strong>Try this Eureka math help and games to make your child a top math\nstudent- <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc\"><strong>https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; It is also on my BLOG.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Math concepts are going to be quickly\nreviewed or introduced (we will go over them in more depth later in the year)\nin the next week and a half, but they should all be doing their addition and\nsubtraction homework that we have been working on.&nbsp; They will score higher on the computer tests\nif they know about these concepts; addition, subtraction, money, time,\nmeasurement, shapes, fractions, and understand multiplication and\ndivision.&nbsp; Again, we will get to all of\nthis, but I just mention it for a short week and half, right now.&nbsp; Please talk about these at home, also.&nbsp; Use computer sites (see BLOG) to practice, if\nyou have a computer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCIENCE &#8211; <\/strong><strong>We are learning about bodies of water and landforms (earth\nscience) in our unit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SPELLING WORDS FOR NEXT WEEK ARE some more consonant\ndigraph words.&nbsp; &nbsp;Please\ncontinue to point out the pattern of the spelling words each week and help your\nchild discover words with these patterns in their reading.&nbsp; Soon, your child will be pointing these out\nto you, if they do not already.&nbsp; A good\nidea is to get a blank notebook and keep a list.&nbsp; Send them in for extra credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The words will be: chick, shop, when, think, thin, chop,\nship, thing, whip, then, with, dish, each, itch, stich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Studies<\/strong>&#8211;\nOur unit is, \u201cWhere my community and what is is it like?&nbsp; Ask your child to name the transportation\nthat they see in their community.&nbsp; What\nare the physical\/natural characteristics that they see in their community\n(grass, river, trees, hills\u2026)?&nbsp;
