{"id":767,"date":"2019-12-20T13:22:23","date_gmt":"2019-12-20T18:22:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ballnic\/?p=767"},"modified":"2019-12-20T13:22:24","modified_gmt":"2019-12-20T18:22:24","slug":"friday-december-20-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ballnic\/2019\/12\/20\/friday-december-20-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday, December 20, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Friday, December 20,\n2019 Mrs. Ballnik\u2019s Classroom News&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; My\nemail is <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:ballnic@dearbornschools.org\"><strong>ballnic@dearbornschools.org<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Math help- <\/strong><strong>Try this Eureka math help and games to make your child a top math\nstudent-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc\"><strong>https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; It is also on my BLOG.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No school-until\nJanuary 6, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCIENCE &#8211; <\/strong><strong>We are learning about bodies of water and landforms (earth\nscience) in our unit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SPELLING WORDS FOR NEXT WEEK ARE consonant\ndigraphs.&nbsp; &nbsp;Please\ncontinue to point out the pattern of the spelling words each week and help your\nchild discover words with these patterns in their reading.&nbsp; Soon, your child will be pointing these out\nto you, if they do not already.&nbsp; A good\nidea is to get a blank notebook and keep a list.&nbsp; Send them in for extra credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The words will be: arch, brush, chase, dash, ditch, hatch,\nmouth, patch, path, pinch, shell, thick, whale, whisk, wish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Studies<\/strong>&#8211;\nOur unit is, \u201cWhere is my community and what is it like?&nbsp; Ask your child to name the transportation\nthat they see in their community.&nbsp; What\nare the physical\/natural characteristics that they see in their community\n(grass, river, trees, hills\u2026)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ornament Sale- Our class made candy cane bead ornaments to\nhelp raise money at the Ecology Club sale.&nbsp;\nThe money will go to a homeless shelter in Wayne County.&nbsp; I also allowed one of their products to go\nhome with them.&nbsp; We learned about making\nproducts and transporting them to market.&nbsp;&nbsp;\nWe will talk more about economics in social studies soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sign Language- See how much your child remembers when using\nsign language to sing, Jingle Bells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Math Facts- It is time to buy your child math fact\nflashcards (the dollar store sells them) to help practice math facts.&nbsp; Students should also use counters, if they do\nnot understand how much each number is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sprint pages \u2013 Some days there is not enough time to do all\nof the fact practice in our Sprint math pages, so I sent them home on Thursday\nin a red folder.&nbsp; Please keep up math\npractice with these.&nbsp; Notice if your\nchild is having trouble and help where needed.&nbsp;\nDraw pictures and go slow, if necessary.&nbsp;\nThey don\u2019t all need to be finished.&nbsp;\nPlease send back the folder and I will reward your child.&nbsp; Please write a note if these are very\ndifficult.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Computer test will be in January (schedule to be announced)\nplease ask your child to read (many books in book bag or go to the library)\nduring vacation and practice some math.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I also have some\nwebsites to use on the back of this newsletter and in the BLOG.&nbsp; Thank-you for all of your wonderful support.&nbsp; The class and I are very lucky to have you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy Birthday to Leith Mohamed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to Daher Alwazan &nbsp;for being the student of the month of January!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Friday, December 20, 2019 Mrs. Ballnik\u2019s Classroom News&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; My email is ballnic@dearbornschools.org Math help- Try this Eureka math help and games to make your child a top math student- https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; It is also on my BLOG.
