Upcoming Dates \u2013 Look\nat the school newspaper coming home today from Mrs. Srour, our principal.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The First\nThanksgiving Play- Thank-you to everyone that were able to come to the\nThanksgiving play.  I am so proud of the\nstudents.  We really do not work on the\nplay for a long time and they did a great job! \nThank-you for listening to the Thanksgiving reports that they brought\nhome and returned to school for credit. \nThese were in orange paper.  This\nis the way I have your child tells you what they do in school.  They also understand that your interest makes\nwhat they do in school important. \nLastly, when your child remembers what they did and explains it to others,\nthey use a higher form of reasoning. \nMany of you do this each day.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please keep asking your child what\nthey did in school.  Don\u2019t except\n\u201cnothing\u201d,  for an answer.  Thank- you for extending the lessons by\nholding your child accountable for the learning.  Be sure that there is reading, spelling\npractice and math homework each day, also. \nWe have some wonderful parents in this class that really help their\nchildren succeed!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCIENCE – <\/strong>We are learning about bodies of water and landforms (earth\nscience) in our unit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPELLING WORDS FOR NEXT WEEK ARE again with endings\n\u2013s, -ed, -ing.  Please continue to point out the pattern of the\nspelling words each week and help your child discover words with these patterns\nin their reading.  Soon, your child will\nbe pointing these out to you, if they do not already.  A good idea is to get a blank notebook and\nkeep a list.  Send them in for extra\ncredit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The words will be: filled, filling, twisted, jumped, locking,\nsaved, saving, saves, slip, slipping, slips, wink, winking, winked, resting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Studies<\/strong>–\nOur unit is, \u201cWhere my community and what is it like?\u201d  received extra credit for We are learning\nabout direction words and maps.  I am\nstill accepting maps of bedrooms. \nSeveral students doing these. We created a map of our community,\nDearborn.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

   We are talking about the directions\nnorth, south, east and west, as well as, directions such as, above, over,\nunder, beside, and next to.  See if your\nchild can answer questions that you ask them with these words.   Try hiding something and use spatial words\nto guide your child to finding it.  Then\nhave your child do it for you and ask your child to use the language (over,\nunder, behind,\u2026)      <\/p>\n\n\n\n
