{"id":761,"date":"2019-12-13T17:41:12","date_gmt":"2019-12-13T22:41:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ballnic\/?p=761"},"modified":"2019-12-13T17:41:13","modified_gmt":"2019-12-13T22:41:13","slug":"friday-december-13-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ballnic\/2019\/12\/13\/friday-december-13-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday, December 13, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Friday, December 13, 2019 Mrs.\nBallnik\u2019s Classroom News&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; My email is <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:ballnic@dearbornschools.org\"><strong>ballnic@dearbornschools.org<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Math help- Try this Eureka math help\nand games to make your child a top math student-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc\"><strong>https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nIt is also on my BLOG.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Upcoming Dates \u2013 Wednesday December\n18- late start<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dec. 23 \u2013 Jan. 3- no school<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When we return, we will have the\ncomputer NWEA or MAP tests in January.&nbsp; I\nwill send a math packet home to go over with your child.&nbsp; There are things that we will learn in\nspring, but if your child has some exposure to them (time, shapes, fractions,\nmoney, multiplication, division \u2026), it will increase their score.&nbsp; Again, we will be touching on all of these\nmath subjects during the rest of the year.&nbsp;\nPlease send back the packet for credit, when you return on January\n6.&nbsp; I will also send the old math book\nhome to keep.&nbsp; There are pages that we\ndid not do that can be done for practice, also.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nAsk your child if they read every day.&nbsp;\nSome students that are not on grade level are telling me that they are\nnot reading every day.&nbsp; Practice is the\nmost important thing when learning to read.&nbsp;\nPlease make sure that your child does this during the break.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCIENCE &#8211; We continue to learn about\nbodies of water and landforms (earth science) in our unit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SPELLING\nWORDS FOR NEXT WEEK\nARE again with endings \u2013s, -ed, -ing.&nbsp; Please\ncontinue to point out the pattern of the spelling words each week and help your\nchild discover words with these patterns in their reading.&nbsp; Soon, your child will be pointing these out\nto you, if they do not already.&nbsp; A good\nidea is to get a blank notebook and keep a list.&nbsp; Send them in for extra credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The words will\nbe: jokes, joked, joking, dumps, dumped, dumping, lives, living, lived, claps,\nclapping clapped, walks, walking, walked.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Studies<\/strong>&#8211; Our unit is, \u201cWhere my community and\nwhat is it like?\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp; We are talking about\nthe directions north, south, east and west, as well as, directions such as,\nabove, over, under, beside, and next to.&nbsp;\nSee if your child can answer questions that you ask them with these\nwords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations\nto Faiz Elkhali for being the current Star Student of the class!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday is pj\nday for the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday is\ncandy cane color day for the school.&nbsp; It\nmeans wear red and white, if you want to.&nbsp;\nI make Friday afternoon a special day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Friday, December 13, 2019 Mrs. Ballnik\u2019s Classroom News&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; My email is ballnic@dearbornschools.org Math help- Try this Eureka math help and games to make your child a top math student- https:\/\/bit.ly\/35QeXMc&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; It is also on my BLOG.
