These include an overview of Earth\u2019s systems, sustaining our water resources, dynamics of weather and climate, structure and dynamics of solid Earth, Earth\u2019s changing climate, and Earth\u2019s place in the universe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>7<sup>th<\/sup> Grade Science 2015\/2016 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year in science you will be studying three main areas.\u00a0 One of these is <strong>physical science<\/strong> concerning physical and chemical changes in matter, the periodic table and waves and energy.\u00a0 Another is <strong>life science<\/strong> which covers cell functions, photosynthesis, respiration and heredity.\u00a0 Finally, we will conclude with <strong>earth science <\/strong>concerning, layers of the atmosphere, solar energy and weather and climate and the effect humans have on a local and global scale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Be Responsible:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Come to class on time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Use the bathroom before class starts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Required:<\/strong>\u00a0 Folder with pockets, lined paper for notes in a 3-ring binder or spiral notebook, pencil, and reading book<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>suggested<\/strong> that you bring colored pencils, markers and a hand pencil sharpener, but these items are <strong>not required<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Extra credit<\/strong> is given for tissues, and\/or paper packets donated to the classroom and signing the study guide for tests each card marking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are absent it is your responsibility to do assignments you missed as homework and to hand them in the next day.\u00a0 All work that you missed will be given to you when you return to school.\u00a0 The number of days given to complete assignments equals the number of days absent.<\/li>\n<li>All of your scores and any missing or late work will be posted online.\u00a0 Grades will be updated once entered into the online gradebook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Be Respectful:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Raise your hand if you are answering or have questions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Computers and any equipment we will use for labs and or activities are expected to be used with extreme care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Displays or projects are to be looked at only.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Respect the rights, property and opinions of others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Grading:<\/strong>\u00a0 Grades will be based on the following categories:<\/p>\n<p>Tests\/projects\/essays = <strong>summative<\/strong> = 70% of grade;<\/p>\n<p>Daily work, quizzes and homework= <strong>formative<\/strong> = 30% of grade.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The following <strong>grading scale<\/strong> will be used:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>100-94% = A\u00a0 93-90% = A-\u00a0\u00a0 89-87% = B+\u00a0 86-84% = B\u00a0 83-80% = B-\u00a0 79-77% = C+<\/p>\n<p>76-74% = C\u00a0 73-70% = C-\u00a0 69-67% = D+\u00a0 66-64% = D\u00a0 63-60% = D-\u00a0\u00a0 59-0%\u00a0 = E<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Grades:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Excuse Student from Task<\/strong>: no need to make up assignment.\u00a0 Not factored into overall grade.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Late Submission<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0 not turned in on time at due date; will be accepted but marked down <strong>10% for each day late.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Missing &#8211; Absent:<\/strong> \u00a0teacher-guided; no need to make up assignment.\u00a0 Not factored into overall grade.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Missing \u2013 Other<\/strong>: present or absent if it can be done;
