Third grade artists created a shape drawing using one-point perspective.\u00a0 This drawing technique uses one vanishing point and can make objects appear to be moving further away from you as they get smaller moving towards the vanishing point.<\/p>\n

They also practiced making tints and shades of a color by mixing or blending one color oil pastel with white and black oil pastels.\u00a0 We made sure to blend the oil pastels so that they looked like a painting.<\/p>\n

The last step was to paint the background with the opposite, or complementary, color.\u00a0 Artists learned how to find opposite colors on a color wheel and learned how two opposite colors next to each other can create a lot of contrast.<\/p>\n
