Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading »

Welcome to 6th Grade Math!

It is a great pleasure to welcome you all to the 2017-2018 school year. I hope you’ve all had an enjoyable and much relaxing summer and are looking forward to a wonderful academic year as I am. My name is Fatima Al Raishouni and I am thrilled to be a part of the Lowrey team as your child’s 6th grade math teacher. This will be my first year teaching in the Dearborn Public school district. I graduated from The University of Michigan-Dearborn with my Bachelor of Arts and my certification to teach k-5th grade, all subject areas, and 6th-8th grade mathematics and language arts. I am both grateful and excited to be working with you and your child. I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful, determined and inspiring team. Here at Lowrey, it is our mission to educate all students to high academic standards within a safe, stimulating environment and ensure that they are prepared to become productive citizens. I will do my best to educate, inspire, and celebrate each child and provide for them a safe and stimulating environment so that they may reach academic excellence and be productive members in their community and beyond.

As I will be teaching your child 6th grade mathematics, it is my goal to teach for understanding. I will work with each child to help develop and progress their mathematical powers to participate effectively as citizens and workers in our contemporary world. I hope to motivate them to become life-long learners and responsible, successful individuals. I am looking forward to an amazing year!
