{"id":22,"date":"2013-11-11T13:20:50","date_gmt":"2013-11-11T18:20:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/defaulttemplate1\/?page_id=22"},"modified":"2013-12-04T18:17:25","modified_gmt":"2013-12-04T23:17:25","slug":"class-info","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alasryk\/class-info\/","title":{"rendered":"Class Info"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>These are the principles that will come alive in our classroom this year&#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Healthy collaboration is necessary for a democratic and equitable world.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Openness and honest communication between teacher, students, and community.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Students will need to be scaffolded towards complexity in Math\/Science concepts and understanding of how Math\/Science is relevant everyday in our world.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Classical Math, Community Math, Critical Math and Pop Culture are important content in our class. Classical = what content does our Board of Education mandate? Community = what knowledge do the students, families and teacher bring as human beings? Critical = what skills that transfer in all areas of life are necessary? Pop Culture= what is influencing youth here and now?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">All forms of literacy are valued and developed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>These are the skills that will be practiced in and out of the classroom&#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Character<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Purposefulness<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Grit<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Optimism<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Curiosity<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Digital<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Video making and editing<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Creative Process<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Collaboration<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Innovation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">General\/Critical<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Transfer<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Analysis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Self-monitoring of progress<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I commit to \u2026<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The safety and security of our students.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To teach the content I am responsible for to the best of my ability.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To be prepared for teaching every day.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To teach our students to think outside of the box and to move them outside of their comfort zones.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To teach students how Science and Math relates to them and their communities and how to impact their communities through Science and Math.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To teach students critical skills that will empower them from now through adulthood.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">To maintain communication with all parents.
