{"id":668,"date":"2017-12-04T13:36:51","date_gmt":"2017-12-04T18:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=668"},"modified":"2017-12-04T13:36:51","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T18:36:51","slug":"week-of-december-4-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2017\/12\/04\/week-of-december-4-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of December 4-8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reminder:<\/p>\n<p>Talent show tryouts today after school are cancelled!<\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8211;Lock-In 5-8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Math Tests for Unit 4 are coming home tomorrow.\u00a0 I know that students have been waiting, but I have make-ups that needed to be done before I send them home.\u00a0 Thank you for your patience!<\/p>\n<p>This week we are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;Our focus this week are or and ar words.\u00a0 Our content words are theme, introduction and inform.\u00a0 Word of the week is disburse.<\/p>\n<p>Daily5\/CAFE&#8211;This week we are finishing our practice with point of view and will move on to identifying and describing the theme in different books we are reading.\u00a0 We will then compare and contrast based on the themes.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;Students are developing an opinion piece based on a holiday topic.\u00a0 We sorted evidence cards to determine what side of the issue they supported and completed our organizer.\u00a0 We will begin our first drafts.<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;We have moved on to Unit 4 which is working with decimals.\u00a0 We will be writing and reading them, converting to fractions, as well as comparing and ordering them.\u00a0 It would be helpful if your child practices at home.\u00a0 We also equate the decimals to money.<\/p>\n<p>Science&#8211;We are continuing our study of different forms of energy.\u00a0 Students will be working on making, exploring and collecting evidence with their marble coasters.\u00a0 Make sure to ask them about the stored, potential energy and how it is stored as height.\u00a0 They should also be able to explain the transfer of the energy as it relates to the marbles representing coasters.\u00a0 Good Stuff!!<\/p>\n<p>Have a wonderful week!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reminder: Talent show tryouts today after school are cancelled!
