{"id":634,"date":"2017-10-09T11:35:31","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T15:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=634"},"modified":"2017-10-09T11:35:31","modified_gmt":"2017-10-09T15:35:31","slug":"week-of-october-9th-october-13th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2017\/10\/09\/week-of-october-9th-october-13th\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of October 9th-October 13th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders for the week:<\/p>\n<p>Monday:<\/p>\n<p>Red Wing Assembly&#8211;The organization is sending home folders with materials.\u00a0 Please be sure to check it out!<\/p>\n<p>DTE Assembly &#8212; Students are going to be bringing home a worksheet to complete and return.\u00a0 Please fill out and return the form because we receive money for our classroom if they are returned!<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday:<\/p>\n<p>PTA Meeting &#8212; 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Friday:<\/p>\n<p>11:45 Dismissal<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This week we are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;Because of our busy week and half day, there will not be a unit this week.\u00a0 We will be reviewing some of our words of the week and content words for our strategy &#8220;Expanding Vocabulary.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Daily 5\/Cafe&#8211;We are continuing our work with our literature circle books.\u00a0 We should be finishing those up this week.\u00a0 We will then move to informational reading and will work on main idea and details.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;Students are enjoying their narrative mystery stories.\u00a0 We have been brainstorming good beginnings and are also choosing traits for our characters.\u00a0 \u00a0We will then work through the writing process with the help of peers and teacher.<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;We have finished up practicing with our larger numbers.\u00a0 Some students need some review at home, so please practicing reading and writing large numbers in different forms (expanded, standard and words).\u00a0 \u00a0Students who mastered this content made even larger numbers by adding places, and also worked on enrichment activities.\u00a0 \u00a0We will move on to collecting, organizing and presenting data.\u00a0 Students will explore different types of graphs.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;Students are working on their lapbooks that will explore the regions of the United States.\u00a0 This week we will make foldables that describe the various regions.\u00a0 On Friday, we will have a short quiz on the identification of the regions.\u00a0 All of this will lead up to students choosing a region to present using a brochure or poster.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great week!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders for the week: Monday: Red Wing Assembly&#8211;The organization is sending home folders with materials.\u00a0 Please be sure to check it out!
