{"id":627,"date":"2017-09-19T11:54:56","date_gmt":"2017-09-19T15:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=627"},"modified":"2017-09-19T11:54:56","modified_gmt":"2017-09-19T15:54:56","slug":"week-of-september-18th-22nd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2017\/09\/19\/week-of-september-18th-22nd\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of September 18th-22nd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders:<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, September 21st Peace Day Assembly&#8212;Wear your pink shirts!<\/p>\n<p>This Week We Are Learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;Our focus this week are long a words. \u00a0We are sorting them into their patterns: \u00a0silent e at the end, ay, ai and ea and transferring this to our reading and writing. \u00a0Our vocabulary words are evidence, phrase, paragraph and Word of the Week is jubilant. \u00a0It would be helpful if you could use these words at home to reinforce what we are working on in class.<\/p>\n<p>Daily5\/Cafe&#8211;Students are practicing problem\/solution with individual books. \u00a0They are also telling about what the characters did to solve the problem. \u00a0We will be also starting our literature circles sometime this week after books and materials are passed out.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;We will be working on a short narrative before moving on to our informational piece which will overlap with Social Studies content.<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;We are continuing our study of geometry with the last part being polygons and their characteristics. \u00a0We are also reviewing addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers. \u00a0Many of the students need a refresher on subtraction, so I will be sending some notes home for extra practice. \u00a0We will most likely be having a test at the end of this week or beginning of next.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;Our focus is absolute and relative location of places. \u00a0Students are currently working on locating states in the United States as they relate to other places. \u00a0We will then work a little with longitude and latitude and move on to physical characteristics of the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great week!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders: Thursday, September 21st Peace Day Assembly&#8212;Wear your pink shirts!
