{"id":606,"date":"2017-04-25T10:18:53","date_gmt":"2017-04-25T14:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=606"},"modified":"2017-04-25T10:18:53","modified_gmt":"2017-04-25T14:18:53","slug":"week-of-april-24-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2017\/04\/25\/week-of-april-24-28\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of April 24-28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the late post!<\/p>\n<p>Also, just to let you know, we had some make ups for the Math Test, so they will be coming home on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>A huge thank you to Mrs. Lackey and Mrs. Malmsten for popping popcorn last week! \u00a0It is greatly appreciated!!<\/p>\n<p>Reminder:<\/p>\n<p>Grades 3-5 Concert tonight at 6:00.<\/p>\n<p>Field Trip coming up on Monday, May 1st to Oakwoods Metropark. \u00a0Students will be bringing a bag lunch with a drink. \u00a0I will be sending home a note as the trip comes closer.<\/p>\n<p>We are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;Our focus this week is adding the endings es, ed and ing to words. \u00a0Students are working on various word work activities with their words.<\/p>\n<p>Daily 5\/Cafe&#8211;We will be finishing up our Literature Circle books and work on various strategies with those books. \u00a0Students are also working on sequencing events in a story they read with a partner. \u00a0Hopefully we will be able to have our breakfast book club this week or next.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;Students have been doing some brainstorming about their favorite food. \u00a0We are working on using powerful language with adjectives and verbs.<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;We have started the unit on Fractions. \u00a0Students are learning about different ways to represent fractions, including on a number line. \u00a0We will be doing various activities using models of fractions. \u00a0We will then move on to finding equivalent fractions.<\/p>\n<p>Science&#8211;We will be finishing our Plant unit and will end with our Plant Salad Party (details to follow). \u00a0The test will be this week and I will be sending home a note about studying as well as the lapbook we made.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;We are continuing to work on government by identifying the three branches and their role in the government.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great week!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the late post!
