{"id":583,"date":"2017-03-27T10:19:43","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T14:19:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=583"},"modified":"2017-03-27T10:19:43","modified_gmt":"2017-03-27T14:19:43","slug":"week-of-march-27-31","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2017\/03\/27\/week-of-march-27-31\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of March 27-31"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders this Week:<\/p>\n<p>Conferences&#8211;Wednesday 4-7 \u00a0If you were scheduled for a conference you should have received a slip<\/p>\n<p>Beach Day&#8211;Wednesday \u00a0Students may wear beach attire. \u00a0No flip flops!<\/p>\n<p>Pajama Day&#8211;Friday \u00a0and End of March is Reading Month<\/p>\n<p>Next week&#8211;Spring Break<\/p>\n<p>We are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;Our focus this week is suffixes. \u00a0We are learning the meanings and identifying root words. \u00a0Please be sure to review and study the words each night.<\/p>\n<p>Daily 5\/CAFE&#8211;Students are working on individual goals and books, but we have also begun our literature circles (Book Club). \u00a0Each student in the circle has a different job&#8211;for example, real world connector, word wizard, summarizer etc. \u00a0Students will switch roles throughout the book. \u00a0They are really already having fun with this! \u00a0It is a great way to enjoy books together.<\/p>\n<p>We have also begun our book talks, where students can share a book that they finished and enjoyed. \u00a0They must present the book to the class, by discussing various parts and recommend the book with reasons. \u00a0This is also a great way for the other students to get book ideas when they are looking for a good book to enjoy. \u00a0Every student will have a chance to do a book talk. \u00a0Remember to ask your child about what book he\/she is choosing.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;We will be finishing our public discourse at the beginning of the week using our plan and stating our opinion with reasons. \u00a0We will then move on to narrative writing.<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;Unit 6 Math tests will be coming home this week. \u00a0We are moving on to Unit 7 which is multiplication and division, but extension of the facts with multiples of 10. \u00a0Please be sure to keep practicing those facts, as it is very helpful if they know the facts when multiplying larger numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;We have begun our unit on government and will be discussing purposes of our government and the 3 branches with description of the roles of each branch.<\/p>\n<p>Have a wonderful week and an even better Spring Break!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders this Week: Conferences&#8211;Wednesday 4-7 \u00a0If you were scheduled for a conference you should have received a slip Beach Day&#8211;Wednesday \u00a0Students may wear beach attire. \u00a0No flip flops!
