{"id":570,"date":"2017-03-21T10:25:57","date_gmt":"2017-03-21T14:25:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=570"},"modified":"2017-03-21T10:25:57","modified_gmt":"2017-03-21T14:25:57","slug":"week-of-march-20-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2017\/03\/21\/week-of-march-20-24\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of March 20-24"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the late post!<\/p>\n<p>Reminders for this week:<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&#8211;Recycling Assembly<\/p>\n<p>Thursday&#8211;Literacy Night 5:00-6:30 \u00a0and Unit 6 Math Test<\/p>\n<p>Pennies for Pasta collection has begun!<\/p>\n<p>We are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;Our focus this week is prefixes. \u00a0We are learning the meaning of prefixes and identifying root\/base words. \u00a0Please be sure to practice a little each night. \u00a0The words are getting a little harder, so they made need extra practice.<\/p>\n<p>Daily5\/CAFE&#8211;We are revisiting our individual Learning Plan goals and revising them. \u00a0Students are showing great growth. \u00a0We are working to improve even more as we work on our reading and writing strategies. \u00a0Our strategy focus this week is compare\/contrast. \u00a0We will be using characters in our books, as well as compare\/contrast with different books.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;We are finishing up our public discourse paragraphs this week on the wind turbines in the Great Lakes. \u00a0The students are learning a lot about both sides of this issue. \u00a0We will be using our research to support our opinion in paragraphs.<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;We have had lots of fun with Geometry! \u00a0We have also been working on some real world multiplication\/division number stories using various strategies to solve them. \u00a0 Unit 6 Math test will be Thursday. \u00a0A study guide will be coming home as well.<\/p>\n<p>Science&#8211;We took our Sound test and they will be coming home at the end of the week. \u00a0We had a few students absent, so there are some makeups.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;We are beginning our unit on Government.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great week! \u00a0Spring is supposed to be here!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the late post!
