{"id":39,"date":"2013-10-07T11:08:37","date_gmt":"2013-10-07T15:08:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=39"},"modified":"2013-10-07T11:08:37","modified_gmt":"2013-10-07T15:08:37","slug":"week-of-oct-7-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2013\/10\/07\/week-of-oct-7-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of Oct. 7-11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders for this Week:<\/p>\n<p>MEAP Testing starts tomorrow! \u00a0Third and Fourth grade will take the Reading test on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Fourth grade will take the Writing on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>It is very important that all students get good rest at night and eat a good breakfast to be ready for the test.<\/p>\n<p>No School&#8211;October 14, 15 and 16.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;There will not be a spelling list this week or the week we return from break because we are testing.<\/p>\n<p>Daily5\/CAFE&#8211;Our focus this week is text features and identifying their purpose. \u00a0We are also working on main idea and details in informational text. \u00a0Students also chose their individual goals and will be working during Daily 5 on their goal using their strategy. \u00a0Your child should be able to tell you the strategy they are using. \u00a0We are also starting book club with students in groups.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;We just finished our narrative piece and will be working on a short compare\/contrast informational piece this week.<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;For the past weeks, students have been working on review of concepts. \u00a0We will be starting into the Everyday Math towards the end of the week. \u00a0There is a new online component with the Math this year, that you will be able to access at home. \u00a0Look for information to come home soon!<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;Both grades are working on Geography and Regions&#8211;Third is focusing on Michigan and Fourth on the United States. \u00a0Third grade is learning a lot of map skills. \u00a0 Our focus this week will be Human and Physical Characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>We have also been sampling our Michigan products! \u00a0If you are willing to donate a Michigan Made product, please let me know!<\/p>\n<p>Have a good week!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders for this Week: MEAP Testing starts tomorrow! \u00a0Third and Fourth grade will take the Reading test on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Fourth grade will take the Writing on Thursday.
