{"id":354,"date":"2016-04-25T11:51:08","date_gmt":"2016-04-25T15:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=354"},"modified":"2016-04-25T11:51:08","modified_gmt":"2016-04-25T15:51:08","slug":"week-of-april-24th-29th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2016\/04\/25\/week-of-april-24th-29th\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of April 24th-29th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders for this week:<\/p>\n<p>MStep Testing begins tomorrow! \u00a0Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a healthy breakfast. \u00a0Try to calm any nerves by \u00a0reminding them to just do their best. \u00a0Work for the next couple of weeks will be light because they will be working hard on these tests!<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday&#8211;Parent Talk classes at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&#8211;Blood Drive<\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8211;Plant Salad Party<\/p>\n<p>Thank you in advance for your participation in the Plant Salad party. \u00a0This is a fun way to end our unit on plants! \u00a0Please let me know if you are unable to bring the item and we will work it out!<\/p>\n<p>Another big thank you to Mrs. Noone and Mr. Buck for popping popcorn for us! \u00a0We appreciate it soo00 much. \u00a0I know what a big job it is to pop popcorn!<\/p>\n<p>This week:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;Our focus this week is ere and ier. \u00a0We are working on transferring these patterns to our writing.<\/p>\n<p>Daily5\/CAFE&#8212;This week we continue to work on main ideas and details, compare and contrast with informational text.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;We are finishing up with a quick write where students are using powerful language to write a descriptive piece about a fictional room. \u00a0Our inspiration was the book &#8220;The Flying Dragon Room.&#8221; \u00a0Ask your child to tell you about it!<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;We have been jumping around a bit! \u00a0We are continuing to work on multiplication facts. \u00a0It is very important students continue to practice these at home. \u00a0We have also started multiplying larger numbers. \u00a0Some students are quite good at it and I will be extending their learning. \u00a0They are finding out how important the basic facts are though!<\/p>\n<p>We are then moving back to a little Geometry by exploring 3 dimensional shapes.<\/p>\n<p>Science&#8211;We finished our study of plants and have started on animals. \u00a0Students are learning how to classify animals based on observable characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;We are continuing with the Growth of Michigan by looking at causes and effects of early manufacturing in Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>Have a sunny week!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders for this week: MStep Testing begins tomorrow! \u00a0Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a healthy breakfast. \u00a0Try to calm any nerves by \u00a0reminding them to just do their best. \u00a0Work for the next couple of weeks will be light because they will be working hard on these tests!
