{"id":35,"date":"2013-09-23T11:16:59","date_gmt":"2013-09-23T15:16:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=35"},"modified":"2013-09-23T11:16:59","modified_gmt":"2013-09-23T15:16:59","slug":"week-of-september-23-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2013\/09\/23\/week-of-september-23-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of September 23-27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders for this week:<\/p>\n<p>Pink shirt\/Peace Day&#8211;Thursday&#8211;Wear your pink shirt to show your support!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This week we are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;Students are working on their individual lists of high frequency words. \u00a0If students get the word right on Friday&#8217;s test, they highlight the word on their list. \u00a0If a word is wrong, it will be on the next week&#8217;s list of words. \u00a0Please be sure to practice each night.<\/p>\n<p>Daily5\/CAFE&#8211;Reading assessments are being done and will conclude this week. \u00a0Students are working on some Reading MEAP review of strategies. \u00a0This week we will be describing literature by exploring various texts within the genres. \u00a0We will also examine text features of non-fiction books.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;We are working on organizing our writing using sequencing words. \u00a0Students will also be taking the District Writing Prompt this week.<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;Currently we are reviewing concepts and working on test taking strategies. \u00a0We are focusing on Measurement this week, including length, time and money. \u00a0Please work on reviewing these concepts in your everyday life at home.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;We just concluded Constitution week! \u00a0Students learned a lot about citizenship, government and elements of the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Both grades will be working on Geography. \u00a03rd graders will be focusing on Michigan and 4th graders, the U.S. \u00a0We will learn about each in terms of their absolute location and relative location. \u00a0The 5 themes of Geography will also be discussed.<\/p>\n<p>I will be alternating with Social Studies and Science, but will spend a couple weeks on both.<\/p>\n<p>Both 3rd and 4th graders will be participating in Michigan Made! \u00a0We sampled Better Made Corn Pops this past week. \u00a0If you are interested in donating a Michigan Made item, we sample products on Fridays and we also share with Mrs. Rosenau&#8217;s class. \u00a0 If you find an item and would like to donate, please let me know! \u00a0This is a favorite of the students!<\/p>\n<p>Have a sunny week!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders for this week: Pink shirt\/Peace Day&#8211;Thursday&#8211;Wear your pink shirt to show your support! &nbsp; This week we are learning: Spelling&#8211;Students are working on their individual lists of high frequency words. \u00a0If students get the word right on Friday&#8217;s test, they highlight the word on their list. \u00a0If a word is wrong, it will be on the next week&#8217;s list of words. \u00a0Please be sure to practice each night.
