{"id":347,"date":"2016-04-05T11:34:03","date_gmt":"2016-04-05T15:34:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=347"},"modified":"2016-04-05T11:34:03","modified_gmt":"2016-04-05T15:34:03","slug":"week-of-april-4th-8th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2016\/04\/05\/week-of-april-4th-8th\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of April 4th-8th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome Back! \u00a0I hope everyone had a restful break! \u00a0It sounds like the kids enjoyed a lot of fun activities with family.<\/p>\n<p>Reminders for the week:<\/p>\n<p>Popcorn on Friday&#8211;We are in need of popcorn poppers! \u00a0Please let me know if you can pop for us on Friday!<\/p>\n<p>Assembly on Wednesday&#8211;Recycling<\/p>\n<p>Fun Run on Friday afternoon<\/p>\n<p>Martian Marathon on Saturday<\/p>\n<p>We are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;We are continuing our work on homophones. \u00a0Students will be tested on the words on Friday<\/p>\n<p>Daily 5\/Cafe&#8211;We have a lot going on! \u00a0We are working on Comparing\/Contrasting using main ideas and details. \u00a0We are also integrating Social Studies into the Daily 5 by using organizers to analyze photographs and for stating viewpoints with reasons and details. \u00a0Students are also using the R.A.N. strategy (Reading to Analyze Non-Fiction).<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;We will be taking our viewpoints and reasons with details and will write a public discourse paper on Windmills in the Great Lakes. \u00a0Students are using their researched information.<\/p>\n<p>Math&#8211;Our focus is Geometry and currently we are comparing and contrasting polygons by using our math vocabulary.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;We are working on growth in Michigan and are using primary sources for information.<\/p>\n<p>Science&#8211;We have started our study of plants. \u00a0Students are learning this week how to classify plants based on observable characteristics. \u00a0Students should be looking for different types of roots, stems, leaves and flowers. \u00a0They can bring in examples if they choose.<\/p>\n<p>Have a sunny week!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome Back! \u00a0I hope everyone had a restful break! \u00a0It sounds like the kids enjoyed a lot of fun activities with family.
