{"id":341,"date":"2016-03-21T10:54:02","date_gmt":"2016-03-21T14:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=341"},"modified":"2016-03-21T10:54:02","modified_gmt":"2016-03-21T14:54:02","slug":"week-of-march-21-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2016\/03\/21\/week-of-march-21-25\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of March 21-25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spring is Here!&#8230;&#8230;well, maybe the temperature is not springlike, but at least we are getting closer to warmer temps! \u00a0Please make sure your child dresses for the weather. \u00a0It is still chilly in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>Reminders for the week:<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday&#8211;PTA meeting<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&#8211;conferences for those scheduled<\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8211;No School&#8211;beginning of Spring Break<\/p>\n<p>This week we are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;We are continuing our study of homophones. \u00a0The students are doing a great job with these. \u00a0Since it is a short week, we will be working with these words when we come back from break as well. \u00a0No test this week!<\/p>\n<p>Daily 5\/Cafe&#8211;This week we are continuing to work on Author&#8217;s Purpose. \u00a0We will also be using main ideas\/details to summarize informational text. \u00a0Students also have been working on their book club books and we will most likely start our projects to present the books this week.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;We are integrating our Social Studies into writing by starting on a public discourse paper. \u00a0Students are researching about wind turbines in the Great Lakes. \u00a0This will take us a couple of weeks. \u00a0Students will be stating their opinion and will be using reasons from their research along with details.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies&#8211;We are discussing growth in Michigan after statehood. \u00a0Students have been doing a great job analyzing photographs from the 1800&#8217;s to determine what life was like.<\/p>\n<p>Science&#8211;We finished our unit on Forces and Motion and we now finish out the year with plants and animals. \u00a0We will just begin this week and will continue after the break!<\/p>\n<p>Have a great week and an even better Spring Break!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spring is Here!&#8230;&#8230;well, maybe the temperature is not springlike, but at least we are getting closer to warmer temps! \u00a0Please make sure your child dresses for the weather. \u00a0It is still chilly in the morning.
