{"id":299,"date":"2015-11-09T14:30:37","date_gmt":"2015-11-09T19:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=299"},"modified":"2015-11-09T14:30:37","modified_gmt":"2015-11-09T19:30:37","slug":"week-of-november-9th-13th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2015\/11\/09\/week-of-november-9th-13th\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of November 9th-13th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Conference slips are coming home today. \u00a0Please double check your day and time and return the bottom of the slip with your child letting me know if your are attending. \u00a0The majority of days and times were chosen at open house. \u00a0 If the day and time no longer work with your schedule, please indicate so I can change it and reschedule.<\/p>\n<p>This week we are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling&#8211;Our focus this week is consonant digraphs. \u00a0Students are working on th, sh and ch, along with their content words. \u00a0 Students should be able to transfer these patterns to their reading and writing.<\/p>\n<p>Daily 5\/CAFE&#8211;Students have been working on informational text. \u00a0They are practicing with asking questions, along with main idea and details. \u00a0We will also be incorporating technology to read for information connected to our Science unit&#8211;Rocks and Minerals.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop&#8211;Students completed their informational writing with their Michigan&#8217;s human characteristic. \u00a0As a fun culminating activity, they built their own bridges using various materials and teamwork. \u00a0We will be testing them out this week.<\/p>\n<p>We will now move on to stating our opinion in persuasive writing.<\/p>\n<p>Science&#8211;Students are working on the study of Earth&#8217;s Resources. \u00a0We explored properties of various rocks and minerals using our senses. \u00a0 Everyone had a great time and learned a lot! \u00a0We are going to be learning more about the types of rocks and minerals Michigan has and will then explore soil! \u00a0Good stuff!<\/p>\n<p>Thanks again to all who have signed up for Michigan Made donations! \u00a0It is so great to have all the support!<\/p>\n<p>Stay warm!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Conference slips are coming home today. \u00a0Please double check your day and time and return the bottom of the slip with your child letting me know if your are attending. \u00a0The majority of days and times were chosen at open house. \u00a0 If the day and time no longer work with your schedule, please indicate so I can change it and reschedule.
