{"id":120,"date":"2014-03-24T10:07:49","date_gmt":"2014-03-24T14:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/?p=120"},"modified":"2014-03-24T10:07:49","modified_gmt":"2014-03-24T14:07:49","slug":"march-24th-28th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/alabakoffj\/2014\/03\/24\/march-24th-28th\/","title":{"rendered":"March 24th-28th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders this week:<\/p>\n<p>Conferences on Thursday, March 27th. \u00a0Conferences slips are going home. \u00a0If you did not receive one, I do not need to schedule a conference with you. \u00a0If you would still like to meet with me, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to schedule a day and time to meet.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Rand Assembly tomorrow&#8211;Tuesday, March 25th at 1:00.<\/p>\n<p>Read-a-thon pledges due Friday, March 28th<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are learning:<\/p>\n<p>Spelling: \u00a0Our focus this week is changing y to i and adding an ending to the base word. \u00a0Be sure to practice words each night.<\/p>\n<p>Daily5\/Cafe: \u00a0We are working on individual goals. \u00a0Our focus this week is folktales, including author&#8217;s purpose. \u00a0Students are also using their Science texts to read and locate information using the text features.<\/p>\n<p>Writer&#8217;s Workshop: \u00a0We recently finished our explanatory paragraphs describing how to make our favorite sundaes, snacks and sandwiches. \u00a0We are now moving on to our public discourse papers. \u00a0Students will be examining an issue, taking a position and defending their position while using a core democratic value (WOW!).<\/p>\n<p>Math: \u00a0Third grade finished up with Geometry&#8211;3-D shapes and Fourth grade finished up with long division. \u00a0 Both grades will now move on to Fractions.<\/p>\n<p>Science: \u00a0Third grade is identifying natural resources. \u00a0Students are now creating graphic organizers, describing Reduce, Reuse and Recycle&#8211;ways to conserve our resources. \u00a0Fourth grade is working on forms of energy and will be exploring magnetism and electricity.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies: \u00a0We are beginning our study of the Government in third grade to prepare for our upcoming Lansing trip. \u00a0We will begin by learning about the purpose of the government and then will examine the branches of the government.<\/p>\n<p>Have a sunny week! \u00a0Keep your fingers crossed for a warm-up!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reminders this week: Conferences on Thursday, March 27th. \u00a0Conferences slips are going home. \u00a0If you did not receive one, I do not need to schedule a conference with you. \u00a0If you would still like to meet with me, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to schedule a day and time to meet.
