Welcome Letter

Hello Parents and Students!

My name is Mr.Ahmad, and I will be your 8th-grade history teacher this year! I am excited to share this school year with you. This is my first year teaching, but I worked in behavior for two years at Woodworth. This letter is designed to introduce you to this class and me. Let me start with myself!

~Educational Experience~

I am an alumnus of Woodworth Middle School. In 2003 I entered as a 6th grader and enjoyed my time here before I moved away. I went to Crestwood High School, where I enjoyed a fine career as a student-athlete. After high school, I enrolled at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, attaining a Bachelors Degree in Social Studies. I spent a couple of years as a Social Responsibilities Technician at Woodworth before going back to UMD for my teaching certificate.

~Family~

I come from a Lebanese family comprised of 8 people—my parents and 5 brothers; 6 boys altogether, including me. I have two splendid nieces that mean the world to me, and I love being an uncle. Family is important to me because they are always there for emotional support. It is important to me that their safety and well-being are always cared for.

~Interests~

My interests include golfing, bowling, and hiking. Spending time with family and friends is equally important. However, bowling and golf seem to have taken over my leisure time. Coaching is another element I find myself at peace with. A couple of years ago, we won the football city championship during my first year of coaching. A memory I will fondly remember for the rest of my life.

~8th Grade History~

This year we will be learning about American history. This covers events from the American Revolution through the American Civil War. It includes the study of the Founding Fathers, Constitution, Native Americans, Slavery, and other important topics.
