{"id":663,"date":"2020-04-20T09:45:01","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T13:45:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/agemym1\/?p=663"},"modified":"2020-04-20T09:45:02","modified_gmt":"2020-04-20T13:45:02","slug":"new-grading-scale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/agemym1\/2020\/04\/20\/new-grading-scale\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW Grading Scale"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">High School Grading Criteria COVID-19 School<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students received a grade for marking period 4, which ended March 6th.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be no 5th marking period grade given.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be no 6th marking period progress reports assigned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the 6th marking period:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Students receive feedback on weekly assignments in the form of narrative comments.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Staff will input grades at least weekly in the gradebook as work is completed.&nbsp; This will be available in parent\/student connect for parents and students to view.<\/li><li>For each class, if a student participates in the learning, he\/she will receive credit.&nbsp; The following will apply:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Students who do the following will earn the grade of A recorded:<ul><li>Engage in at least 75% of the remote lessons and hangouts.<\/li><li>Submit and earn a passing grade on at least 75% of the assignments.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Students who do the following will earn the grade of G which awards credit:<ul><li>Engage in 60-74% of the remote lessons and hangouts.<\/li><li>Submit and earn a passing grade on at least 60-74% of the assignments.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Students who do the following will earn the grade of N which is no credit given:<ul><li>Engage in less than 60%&nbsp; of the remote lessons and hangouts.<\/li><li>Submit and earn a passing grade on less than 60% of the assignments.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If a student chooses not to participate and cannot be reached despite numerous attempts, the student receives N for no credit.&nbsp; The teacher must submit the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSeFjhMlJfUXDZr-VeGPKhEx7eIh54KkLHrR1kZJd1KeArEjfw\/viewform?usp=sf_link\">credit\/no credit form<\/a> by May 15th for seniors and May 28th for 9th-11th grade students. The principal must approve.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>If a student is unable to participate due to family hardship, the student will be excused from work and will receive credit.&nbsp; This evidence will be documented in the building log. Principals must approve credit.<\/li><li>Additional comments that may be used:<ul><li>Rarely or did not submit work<\/li><li>Rarely attended remote lessons or check-in sessions<\/li><li>Family hardship during the time of instruction<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Any student who receives no credit will have to attend summer school for credit recovery.&nbsp; (Students must meet the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements and earn 23 credits to graduate.)<\/li><li>There will be a district appeal process for a student contesting their 6th marking period grade.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"excerpt\">High School Grading Criteria COVID-19 School Students received a grade for marking period 4, which ended March 6th.&nbsp;&nbsp; There will be no 5th marking period grade given.&nbsp; There will be no 6th marking period progress reports assigned.
