Use the link below to enjoy this story at home with your child <\/li><li>Our letter this week was the letter &#8220;Ss.&#8221;  <\/li><li>We made special cards the people we selected<\/li><li>We started learning about shapes<\/li><li>The Unique Learning Unit this month is a social studies unit focusing on connecting personal experiences to stories as well as learning about events that happen in the past, present or future.  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/1jnsJecOKdAZpvCFX9hJD5xfzTgB6fB5i6w5MJDkMQJ8\/edit#slide=id.g1068c17d7b9_0_0\">Hugs and Kisses<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/1JOfLl6qIu-OvA3qcKCWwQvXXd9kKoRgKlWpw389CHyk\/edit#slide=id.g10529b9ce49_0_1\">When I Want<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WANT  Core Word for February  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our core word focus this month is WANT. &nbsp;At the end of each school day, we will record a message from your child to play for you about their day at school.&nbsp; <strong>In return, you will record, with your child,&nbsp; a message about something they did at home.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear Parents,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your child is learning how to use the Core strategy to support his\/her communication.&nbsp; It\u2019s an exciting time with our little interactive learners!&nbsp; Once they can use Core words, the possibilities are endless for things they will be able to express.&nbsp; The Core is set up with the first set of 12 words that have lessons for an introduction. Each word comes with a set of books and suggested lessons for both home and school.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m sending this letter to let you know that we are working on the Core word \u201cgo\u201d this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first book we will be reading is<strong> <\/strong><strong><em>When I Want.<\/em><\/strong><strong>&nbsp; <\/strong>Your child will have this book at home and also have access to it on our blog page.&nbsp; One strategy we use at school that you might find helpful at home, is to do a<em> Picture Walk<\/em> through the pages. The idea of this activity is to create a rich language experience that feels important to your child and allows them to connect with the pictures in the book about things they already know.&nbsp; As you open the pages of the book, just encourage them to notice things in the pictures.&nbsp; You might point something out, for example, \u201clook at that refrigerator.&nbsp; Do you see an apple?!\u201d&nbsp; or \u201clook at all those presents!!\u201d&nbsp; You don\u2019t have to expect your child to repeat you or make contributions to this talk in the beginning.&nbsp; You are providing a model for them to do this as they develop literacy and language skills.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We practice using \u201cwant\u201d buttons at school.&nbsp; Look for buttons in backpacks for them to practice at home.&nbsp; Please send them back to school each day.&nbsp; We use them here too!&nbsp; The more you can practice at home, the better!&nbsp; I \u2018m looking forward to hearing
