HAPPY MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY!<\/p>\n

Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the civil rights movement. When we return to school this week fourth graders will begin to learn about out government-the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Students will take a closer look at the role of citizenship \u00a0in a democracy. In years past this unit has inspired some students to take a more active role in their school-creating a student council with elected officials and representatives from each of the fourth grades. In other words; the words of Dr. Martin Luther King-\u201cLife\u2019s most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?\u201d<\/p>\n
