I’m excited to be teaching at Henry Ford and Snow Elementary Schools this year! \u00a0I am the Media Specialist at both schools, and this is an awesome job because I am able to combine literature, reading, and technology.\u00a0 \u00a0As the Media Specialist, I oversee the media center, collaborate with staff, order materials, teach lessons, help with technology, and encourage students to enjoy reading.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I started teaching in Dearborn in 1999 at Salina Elementary, and soon added Salina Intermediate to my schedule. \u00a0I have Bachelor of Music, Master of Arts in Teaching, and Master of Library and Information Science degrees, all from Wayne State University.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
We have one daughter, who graduated from Michigan State University.\u00a0 Go Green!\u00a0 She is also a teacher.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Here are a few fun facts to help you get to know me a little better!<\/p>\n
Favorite sport to watch: \u00a0Tigers baseball<\/p>\n
Favorite foods: \u00a0Greek salads, pizza, chicken shawarma<\/p>\n
Favorite coffee: \u00a0Tim Horton’s or Dunkin. \u00a0Regular coffee please, none of those fancy schmancy ones.<\/p>\n
Favorite subject in school: \u00a0science<\/p>\n
Favorite place to vacation: \u00a0northern Michigan near Lake Charlevoix, but we also go to Lexington, Michigan \u00a0frequently.<\/p>\n
A few other fun facts: \u00a0I love reading (of course!), ice skating, and playing the flute. \u00a0I started playing in 7th grade, continued through college, and continue to enjoy playing in community bands and flute ensembles. \u00a0I also had the great fortune to travel to Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, and Russia with my high school choir.<\/p>\n
Staying active is so important and I enjoy going for walks and doing 5k fun walks. \u00a0I also did the American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb a few years ago and climbed the 72 flights of stairs to the top of the Renaissance Center in Detroit. \u00a0Great exercise and what a view!<\/p>\n\n\n
