We are looking to continue our First Lego League (FLL) team and FLL Junior team. We are recruiting 18-20 students in grades 1-5 to join our teams. If you are interested in robotics, designing and programming a robot, then think about applying to be on the team. If you think you are interested, write a short essay explaining why you believe you should be selected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will be <\/span><b>meeting once a week on Wednesday mornings from 7:45-8:30 and possibly Tuesday afternoons from 3:35-4:30.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>You will be selected on the following criteria: <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strong, edited, neatly written essay. Include at least 3 reasons why you would be a <\/span><b>great <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">candidate for robotics. \u00a0It may be typed or handwritten.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good attendance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Behavior<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teacher recommendation <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents and students must commit to dropping off and picking up their children on time and committing to at least \u00a0one Saturday competition in December (date to be determined). <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>If you were in robotics this year, you still must apply again if you wish to be chosen for next year\u2019s team.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write your short essay and turn in to Ms. Shalhout or Ms. Donoghue by <\/span><b>Friday, June 8<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FIRST LEGO LEAGUE ROBOTICS TEAM Dear Parents\/Families, Geer Park is embarking on our second year with robotics to further our STEAM initiative (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).
