Dear kindergarten\nfamilies,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spelling will\nbegin this week. Your child will have 8 spelling words each week. Four of the\nwords will fit a pattern. For example, this week we will study the \u2018\u2013at\u2019 word\nfamily. Your child will be given hot words within the \u2013at family to study on\nMonday. These are the words that we will focus on in the classroom. The cold\nwords will be given to them when they receive their spelling test. They will\nlook different than the hot words, but will still come from the same word\nfamily. For example, I might give them the word \u2018hat\u2019 to study, but give them\nthe word \u2018sat\u2019 on the test. The purpose of the cold words is to see if your\nchild can apply the studied pattern for the week. The last four words will be sight\nwords that we have practiced in the classroom. A spelling packet with the\nspelling words will go home each Monday and will need to be completed and\nturned in each Friday. Please have your\nchild complete one page a day. We will have a test every Friday, unless there\nis no school on Friday. In that case, we will have the test on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
