What a glorious day it is today!

Today we are going to combine two of my favorite things: writing and being outside.

Here’s what to do:

Go outside (with the permission of your parents) and observe the following things:

What do you see?

What do you hear?

What do you smell?

What can you touch?

Next, you are going to write about what you observed .

I could see ______________________________.

I could hear ____________________________.

I could smell ___________________________.

I could touch ___________________________.

Good Luck!

Hi Kindergartners!

Today is a great day to practice your sight words! We are going to play a game called SIGHT WORD SLAP!

How to Play:

It seems like a simple game, but it’s really a fun way to practice your sight words.

Take the words off your ring of cards.

Quickly shuffle and deal the cards into two piles. Each player gets one pile of cards. At the same time, each player flips over a card. The first person who reads the card correctly and slaps it gets both cards. Continue until there is no more pile of cards.

Good Luck!

Happy Friday Kindergartners!

I hope you had an amazing week!

Today we are going to finish up our “Rhyming Week” with a new game.

Rhyme Challenge: Whether you are in the car, taking a walk, or relaxing at home, Rhyme Challenge is an easy game that requires no set-up, clean-up, or materials whatsoever.

For Rhyme Challenge, one person chooses a word and says, I challenge you to think of as many rhymes as you can for “cat” (or any word). And the next player says as many words as he can that rhyme with that word. Both players keep count. I try to model saying the given word with the rhyming word so my little ones stay on track with rhymes (Cat, bat. Cat, hat. Cat, mat. . . ), but this isn’t necessary.

Also try:

  • Having one person choose a word then take turns saying just one rhyming word, one right after the other.
  • Speed rounds,” where we yell out rhyming words as fast as we can. Or, you can do “slow rounds” – it really depends on the day.

Good Luck!

Good Morning Kindergartners,

I hope your day is as great as you are!

Today we are going to learn a new poem that I wrote called Ms. Wright. Read it several times with a family member. Next, find all the rhyming words in the poem.

Ms. Wright

Ms. Wright had a fright

In the middle of the night.

She saw a ghost,

Eating toast

Halfway up the lamp post.

How many rhyming words did you find?

Come back tomorrow!

Hi there Kindergartners!

Another day of some RHYMING FUN!

Here goes:

Rhyming Game #1

Let’s play a game of ‘I Spy Rhyme’. It’s just like I spy but with a rhyme twist! The person who is it would say, “I spy something that rhymes with hawk.” The answer being; chalk. Once children get that they have to rhyme it out before they say it, it is so much fun!

Rhyming Game #2

Use this I Spy board below. Pick an object on the board and see how many rhyming words you can make.

Good Luck!

Until tomorrow!

Happy Monday Kindergartners!

Hope this finds you doing well.

Today we are going to practice our rhyming skills.

Remember that words rhyme if they have the same ending sound!

Practice reading the words below to see if which one rhyme. Afterward, check with a family member to see how you did! Good Luck!

Until tomorrow…

Hello Kindergartners!

You know how Ms. Wright loves to write! Well, today is the perfect day to practice. Even though we don’t have our writing books at home, you can use any kind of paper, even a whiteboard, a chalkboard, etc.

To start at the top and pull down!

After you have practiced writing your letters, especially the ones that can be hard for you, practice writing some sentences below.

*Put a finger space between your words

*The first letter is a capital or uppercase letter.

*Use a period at the end of your sentence.

Until next time…

Ms. Wright
