U.S. History for Rest of Year

U.S. History from April 19th Onward

I hope everyone is doing well. We’re doing ok right now. My wife is a nurse and has all Covid patients so we are doing as well as we can right now. Again, please let me know if there is anything going on with you guys at home that may be preventing timely work (illness, economic reasons, etc.). Our job is to help you all become the best educated person you can be.

Ok. Pay very close attention to the following:

Assignments:

-All assignments for the week will be posted on iLearn by 12pm on Sundays

-All assignments will be due by Friday at 10 AM. (That’s in the morning). There can/will be multiple assignments due in the week. Always share to maynarj1@dearbornschools.org if you

Google Hangouts:

-Part of your grade will also be attending Google Hangout sessions. This is where I can show you where the work is, answer any questions, show you how to do some of the work etc.

The invites will be sent to your student emails. So you will be required to check those every Sunday.

1st hour: You must attend on Mondays from 1pm-1:40pm.

4th hour: You must attend Tuesdays from 1pm-1:40pm.

The following are OPTIONAL Google Hangouts where I can be around to help with any questions you have.

These are when those will take place.

1st hour: Wednesdays from 1pm-1:40pm.

4th hour: Thursdays from 1pm-1:40pm.

When you log on to the Google Hangout you will be required to leave a comment with your name to sign in.

Grades:

Here is what they say grading will be like for the district:

  • Students who do the following will earn the grade of A recorded:
    • Engage in at least 75% of the remote lessons and hangouts.
    • Submit and earn a passing grade on at least 75% of the assignments.
  • Students who do the following will earn the grade of G which awards credit:
    • Engage in 60-74% of the remote lessons and hangouts.
    • Submit and earn a passing grade on at least 60-74% of the assignments.
  • Students who do the following will earn the grade of N which is no credit given:
    • Engage in less than 60%  of the remote lessons and hangouts.
    • Submit and earn a passing grade on less than 60% of the assignments.

Check comments in student connect for feedback if you did turn something but was not good.

So here is what this means. Your grade from before is gone. You have 3 grade options now.

To get an A:

-You have to do 75% of the work and it has to actually be decent. This means for some of you this will be the easiest A you’ve ever had or for some of you the only A you’ll ever have. Take advantage! From my understanding colleges will take this as an A.

I will not count work that is only partly done, has obviously horrible answers, or seem like they are plagiarized.

To get a G:

-This is kind of like getting a D. It’s passing but is not good. From my understanding colleges will take this as a D.

To get an N:

-This is failing. This means if you do nothing from here on out or do less than 60% of the work. This means night school/summer school.

So in summation, always check iLearn under the appropriate dates, check your email for Google Hangout meets, and all work for the week is due on Friday at 10am.

Check gradebook too.

Circumstances:

If there is anything getting in the way of you doing the work (illness, economics, technological, etc.) please let me know! We can’t help you if we don’t know what is going on.
