I am Willanda Taylor and I would like to begin by introducing myself on a personal note. The roles I uphold with great pride, humility, and a passion is a wife, mother, daughter, spiritual youth leader, and educator of today. I have a blended family and a wonderful husband. Professionally, I am a sixth year special education teacher pursuing the goal of attaining my Educational Leadership in Special Education Administration and Supervision. As a young girl I knew that I wanted to become a teacher, but it was not until I began working on my Associates Degree at Wayne County Community College that I realized the need and my call into Special Education. Growing up I had an older brother who struggled to read and who was made fun of his whole childhood. My brother unknowingly became a part of my catalyst to understand how to teach all kinds of learners in all capacities. After leaving Wayne County Community College with my Associates Degree in Education and went forward to accomplish my goals. I received my Bachelors Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Cognitive Impairment. Two years later I returned to Wayne State at which time I chose to further dive into special education and worked diligently to graduate with my Masters Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have had the joy of educating students within the middle school, elementary, and transition center school settings with students of all disabilities and disciplines. Presently, I am working as a Autism Spectrum Disorder teacher in Dearborn Public schools, and I am excited to among some of the greatest educators who believe in embracing diversity, teamwork and excellency. My love for education is my calling and purpose. I want to empower, elevate, work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and students alike. I am a believer that all students can learn, and their success should be celebrated individually daily.
