Bring on Spring!!  We are enjoying the warmer temperatures.  Thank you for still having your child wear boots to school.  Rain  and melting snow make great mud, which gets tracked into the room.  When the ground is drier, boots can be left at home.  Thanks!

SPELLING-  We will focus on the it chunk.   hit  kit  pit  sit  fit     him  his  little

Have your child practice writing  the words and not just spell them back to you.  I give them time every day to practice their words with their partner.  I can hear them spelling the words correctly, but when they write the words, they misspell the words.

WRITING- Narrative Writing  ( a story )  Our setting will be at the park.  Discuss some scenarios with your child.  Stories have a beginning, middle and end.  Practice making up stories, identify the beginning, middle, and ending  of your stories.  Not every story needs to be written down so talk through a story.  Remember the 4 elements of a story…characters, setting, plot, solution.

MATH-Math packets are due every Monday.  Home on Monday, returned on Monday.

We’ll be working with Decomposition of 9 and 10 into number pairs.  “What 2 numbers make up 10?”

Extend it…”What 3 numbers make up 10?”

SCIENCE-We have begun putting potatoes in water.  My little Scientists are very focused on their potato and saying,”I don’t see any change yet!”  Still time on Monday to send in a potato.  Thanks

Thank you for your participation with reading to our class.  I have had former students read and today we had some of DHS’s Football team players come in and read.  We had a good discussion as to why reading, completing assignment handing them in on time, etc is so important.  Great to see former students doing so well and be good role models to my Kindergarteners.  Proud of them  AND my kids were SO WELL behaved.  Love them!

Have a good weekend and “Happy St. Patrick’s Day!”  since my grandparents came stringht from Ireland, my family will be celebrating all weekend.  (The Irish always get a jump start on “the holiday” and start celebrating the day after St. Valentine’s day!)
