A message from Mr. Attee about attendance

Consistent and timely attendance in school is extremely important and considerably enhances your child’s educational experience.  If possible, please avoid removing your child from the classroom during the school day.  If it is absolutely necessary to remove your child, please make sure to check into the main office and sign-out your child prior to exiting the building.  We will not call the student out of class until the person signing him/her out has arrived in the office.

The first bell rings at 8:35 a.m.; teachers will escort students to class and instruction begins promptly at 8:40 a.m.  Children entering school after 8:40 a.m. MUST be accompanied by a parent and sign-in at the main office. After 8:40, you and your child will need to be buzzed in using Door 1 on Beech Street as the other entrances will be locked at this time.

The procedure for reporting absences is to contact the school attendance line at (313) 827-2751 before 8:30 a.m.  You may leave a message any time after 4 pm the night before.  When calling, parents should give the following information: student’s name, teacher, grade, reason for and length of absence.

Upon returning to school, it is the responsibility of the students and/or parents to check with teachers for missed assignments.  If your child will be absent for more than two days, please contact his or her teacher in order to make arrangements to pick up the homework from the main office.  Homework will be ready for pick up by 3:35 p.m.
