Every Friday starting this Friday we will follow Study Hall schedule to support our students to become successful this semester which might include a lesson reteach, assignment completion, quiz/test retakes, school support and so forth.
Last week I reviewed the Tardy Policy along with Minor/Major recurring intervention support. These documents are posted on the parent/student handbook along with the Smith website.
I will be out on Tuesday 2/13 attending a scheduled workshop. Assigned worksheet will be due at the end of the hour.
In science this week:
- A-Day students will revise their Chill-Out activity and retest their model again to prevent the cold water temperature from rising than the beginning time.
- B-Day students will begin their investigation on the Chill-OUT project where they think as a team of engineers who will design a water tank to hold and keep water as cool as possible for 20 minutes.
- Thermal Energy quiz is planned for Monday & Thursday for A/B day students
- We will begin our planning of the building challenge this week as well.
- A fun Science STEM activity is in planning for Wednesday & Thursday of this week in honor of Valentine’s Day. Remember to put your scientist coat and thinking caps on to complete this challenge as a team!
Extra credit items: Students will receive 5% more toward their lab or quiz this week if they bring any 2 of the following items: Ice, plastic wrap, cotton balls, paper cups.
Mid-Winter Break begins is from Monday 2/19 for a week. Have a great and restful break. Students will have the opportunity to build their home prototype while on break and submit their model when we return with an explanation of their prototype. I will post directions and rubric on Google Classroom.
Have a great week and always have a GROWTH MINDSET!
