Wow! That was such a great first week of school. It was SO amazing to meet your child last week and have our first online zoom meeting. Thank you all for your partnership and patience as we navigate this virtual start to the school year. It made my heart SO happy to see all the smiling and excited students I have the pleasure of working with this year. Next week, we will begin using Schoology for all our zoom meetings and communication. This weekend, I posted written and a video how to log in tutorial with information, reminders and communication in our schoology classroom. I am working on putting material into our class site, however all your child needs to do for Tuesday’s morning zoom meeting is click the link. Remember this is our last blog post on my school blog. From now on I will be blogging on our schoology site. I also sent an email with the same info on it (tutorial video and zoom link) JIC you have not subscribed to the blog.

Have a wonderful Memorial weekend!

-Mrs. Ross πŸ™‚

Physical Education Waivers

Robert AtteeClass News

Dear DuVall Families,

The Dearborn Public School District and our schools need your help.  In order to participate virtually in physical education this school year, parents and students will need to sign the DEARBORN PUBLIC SCHOOLS PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT WAIVER/RELEASE FOR INJURY AND/OR COMMUNICABLE DISEASES INCLUDING COVID-19.  Please read and sign the waiver by Friday, September 11th by clicking on this link.

Good Morning! Zoom Meeting :-)

Good morning room 106! I am SO excited to see you all at our first zoom meeting today!! I will click the meeting to “start” at 9:00 am and we will begin with attendance and practicing “clicking” the mute button off to say hello and then muting it again. Please have your child bring their new materials I passed out yesterday at the distribution day. We will briefly go through each one together instead of me doing a tutorial. I have some activities planned for the meeting, and we will get to as many as we can today. Each day we will meet online and work to increase our minutes and stamina as a whole group. The goal today is to get acquainted with our first zoom meeting and meet each other with our big smiles! See you soon:

Day 2 Theme: Always Do Our best!

Dear Kindergarteners,

This year you are going to have such a wonderful time. Together, we are going to learn SO much! This story is about a little boy named Henry and how he is getting ready for Kindergarten. Henry discusses all of the wonderful things he knows how to do already. He also talks about the exciting things he hopes to do and learn in school. After you listen to the book, share some of the wonderful things you know how to do/hope to learn how to do in kindergarten this year. Be ready to share one of these things with Mrs. Ross when you pick up materials on Wednesday at 11:00am! I can’t wait to see you tomorrow my shiny little penguins. I also included a copy of the story from YouTube so that your child can see the story very close. Enjoy!

Love,

Mrs. Ross πŸ™‚

Week of 8-31-2020 First Day Kdg Orientation!

Dear Families,

Hooray Hooray it’s the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! I am SO excited to have your child in room 106 and want to welcome you all to DuVall Elementary School. This year your shiny new penguin and I will experience a love for our classroom family and education together. Although we are beginning virtually, I want you all to know that I am right here with a huge heart, personality and love for teaching the young child. I have just finished teaching summer school virtually and we had a blast each day working together as a team so I promise you it is not only possible, but enjoyable for the kiddos! Below I have prepared a few videos for your child and family to watch today and one little assignment. Your child will watch the read aloud and draw a picture (with your help of course!) of how they feel today on the first day of school. Of course I would LOVE to see it and share with the class. So, if you would like to show your child how you will send in a picture of their work this year snap a pic and reply to our post! They will be so excited to see they are famous! Enjoy the videos and I will share more fun activities each day at 8:55am sharp! Remember, I will be available each day from 8:45am-4:00pm. The first week of school, I will be calling each family to say hello and check in, greet your child and family and make sure that you have the materials you need. We can also troubleshoot any issues we encounter with technology! Looking forward to it.

-Sincerely,

Mrs. Ross πŸ™‚

Dearborn Virtual Learning Program

Greetings Parents,

On Monday, August 10 the Board of Education approved a plan for all Dearborn Public School students to return to school on-line. Students from kindergarten through high school will take classes online at least until sometime around the beginning of October.  The board will reevaluate conditions later in September to see if it is possible for some or all students to begin returning to their classrooms perhaps in a blended model of in-class and on-line learning.

The District understands there are parents who want their children in a 100% virtual learning program no matter what phase the State is in or how other students in the District are attending school.  For the parents who want a 100% on-line option for the entire school year, the school district has created the Dearborn Virtual Learning Program for students K-12.  Parents selecting this option are opting their children into the program for a one-year commitment.

In order to meet staffing, transportation, and several other components of our new school environment, it is vitally important to know how many students will join the Virtual Program. Parents seeking more information and/or are interested in opting their child(ren) into this program are highly encouraged to visit our school on date and time.

School administrators will be on hand (social distancing, limited numbers, and masks will be enforced) on Date and Time to meet with parents. If you have children at different grade levels and buildings, you do not need to attend meetings at multiple schools.Β  Opt-in forms will be available and parents can opt-in all their children at one location. Here is a link to the complete schedule of schools and meetings.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SdFISdKk-c1Lbkz7Vj5irylxEkqJOKZy2J3HJGvJ_tI/edit#heading=h.e1437s49s5yw.

If you are not comfortable meeting in a safe environment at the school or are unable to attend on one of the scheduled days, please call or email the school so we may discuss this option and begin the opt-in process for your children.

We understand there are many questions, concerns, and uncertainties as we approach the start of the school year.  Our Back to School Reopen Committee has spent many hours considering all of the health, safety, logistical, and educational concerns before making their recommendations. Our Board spent many hours reviewing those recommendations including a six hour Study Session to hear from the various sub-committees and stakeholders.  We are now ready to move forward, together, to ensure what will be an interesting, but great, start to the 2020-21 school year.

Have a great day,

Mr. Attee

Dbn Soccer Club FC Flyer!

Dear Families,

The following is a flyer that is usually distributed to students in their homework folders each spring. Assistant coach Kind (who used to be my son’s coach for three years!) asked if I would post this on my blog and share it with our school community. This is just information for you all, but I hope that some of your little darlings find a home with the Dbn Jags one day if they love soccer. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the organization and what it’s done for Ben and our family.
