America Recycles Day, a program of Keep America Beautiful, is a nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Every year on or around November 15, organizations create events to promote this special day and teach our kids global citizenship, the importance of keeping our planet beautiful and the positive impact recycling has for our Earth.

To help celebrate America Recycles Day, we are hosting a school-wide bottle cap drive. We will be collecting all bottle caps from now until November 15. Your support in this collection will help our school come together as a community, learn the importance of recycling and recognize our proud title of being a “Green School.”

Thank you in advance for your participation and support! Happy collecting!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Buenting & Ms. Otto, Green School Committee

Dear Parents,

Homeroom mom’s would like to get together after school on Friday, October 23rd at 3:30 (in classroom) with any parents who want to volunteer for the Halloween Party. Please come and help be apart of what activities you want your child to do for the party!!

The Kindergarten Halloween Party is set to take place on Friday, October 30th.

The afternoon will begin with the party at 12:30 p.m. in the classroom. All parents are welcome to come and help (no siblings).  A fun-filled day of events with crafts, games and treats! Children may come to school in their costumes, however no weapons or masks will be allowed.

Costume Parade around the school at 2:00 p.m. parents and siblings are welcome to come and see!

The homeroom mom’s are planning a wonderful party for the students. Donations are welcome to help support this! Donations will help the cost of the supplies for the crafts and games, as well as the treats, prizes and decorations.

We are also looking for volunteers to help on the day of the party. If you can’t make it the day-of, perhaps you can help with some of the prep work before hand. Please let us know how you would like to help.

Please return your donation in your child’s homework folder by Tuesday, October 20th.

Your help is invaluable and we greatly appreciate any time that you can offer to ensure a memorable day for our children. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Mrs. Rito

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Read the rest of this entry

Busers for the last week!!!

For the last week of school and the last day, here are a few friendly reminders that really help our buses out:

  1. During the last week please have the students schedule alternative means of transportation for any large school projects that need to go home.  Also, if possible, please limit / eliminate the use of backpacks especially on the last day.
  2. Please remind school staff that food and drinks are not permitted on the bus.
  3. Transportation will also be using the Mobile Operations Safety Team (M.O.S.T.) on Thursday June 16th.

Kindergarten Celebration

Kindergarten Celebration

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

The end of the school year is almost upon us and to celebrate we will be having a Kindergarten Celebration! Our celebration will be held at school on June 14th from 1:45 – 3:15pm. We are looking forward to a fun-filled afternoon, but we wanted to give you some important information first. Since all of the Kindergarten classes will be outside together, each class has been assigned a color to wear that day. We are asking that your child wear the color designated for their classroom teacher below:

Mrs. Dimitriou: Blue Mrs. Vensko: Green Mrs. Rito: Orange

We will be providing your child with a fun snack and water, but we are asking that you please send your child in with sunscreen already on and a hat/sunglasses if needed. We are also in need of some parent volunteers to help run the centers. If you think you would like to join the fun, please contact your homeroom teacher. Please be aware that NO SIBLINGS will be allowed at this event. NO EXCEPTIONS.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you so much for all of your help and support. We look forward to a great celebration for a wonderful year!

Sincerely,

The Kindergarten Team
