Class Info

Welcome to our classroom! As we begin our year together, I have some important information you need to know about the expectations of this class.  First, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Jamy Sherlock and I am honored to be your child’s teacher this year.  I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University and my Master’s Degree from Concordia University, in Leadership and Administration. This is my third year teaching in Dearborn Public Schools. It is important for your child to feel safe and comfortable because with this comes a well-managed classroom filled with opportunities where children can experience and discover, take risks and implement practices taught by the teacher.  My teaching will consist of various types of lessons, being highly sensitive to different learning styles and the diversity of children that exist within any classroom.  Also, I find it important and beneficial to integrate all subject matters across the curriculum.  I look forward to a very fun and productive year! I’m very excited about teaching 2nd  grade at Snow, and I’m even more excited to be sharing it with you and your child.  I am looking forward to meeting you, and getting a chance to get to know you.  As for those of you that I’ve already had the pleasure of working with in the past, thanks for your help and cooperation and I’m thankful to be working with you again.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to call my classroom voicemail at 313-827-7436, or the office at 313-827-6250, please leave a message, and I will return your call as soon as possible.

I am looking forward to an exciting and meaningful year!                                                       Sincerely,

Miss. Sherlock

School Hours

Our school hours are 8:40 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. (with the entry bell ringing at 8:35 a.m.) Students should wait on the black top on the upper elementary playground facing the Houston St. I will pick them up when the bell rings.  In order for students to transition smoothly into the day, they should arrive promptly. If your child arrives after 8:40, they will be marked tardy.  If your child arrives more than 10 minutes late, they are marked absent and need to be signed in through the office prior to arriving to the classroom.  For safety, most of our outside entry doors are locked during the day.  YOU MUST SIGN IN AT THE OFFICE IF YOU ARE VISITING THE BUILDING.

At the end of the day, the students will be dismissed out the same doors from the morning.  Please do not wait outside our classroom door, as it is distracting to the students.  Please decide on a meeting place in the lobby or outside.  Your help with this is appreciated and please pass this information on to any other adult who picks up or drops off your child. Please make sure your child is picked up on time.  If you are late, your child will be waiting for you in the office, not in the classroom.
