Bring $1 and wear “green and white” to support our AVID trip to MSU! We will also have a bake sale after school tomorrow! Remember, it’s late start!
The due date for the College Project has been extended to Monday, October 2nd! This will give students a little more time to put the finishing touches on their presentations. We will begin presentations on Tuesday or Wednesday next week!
This week, the A.V.I.D students began working on a research project. With a partner, they will create a presentation on a college or University of their choosing. The slideshow is due September 29th on Google Classroom. Students will also create a pennant and write a letter (independently) to the college they chose.
Students will present these to the class once completed so that they gain some experience with presenting and so that we can all learn about the options available at different schools! We are thinking FUTURE!
There will be a District-Wide College Fair next week, September 19th from 6:00-7:30 at the Henry Ford Performing Arts Center! I would love for my students to attend! There will be lots of opportunities to learn about what their options are after high school – from University to Trade School and even the Armed Forces! Raffle tickets will be given to those who provide proof they attended. We will discuss this in class! Click the link below for the brochure and details on the event!
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! This week we will be getting back into the routine of the classroom and discussing, writing about and demonstrating our understanding of what it means to have G.R.I.T.
Let’s start the year strong with a fierce work ethic and a drive to succeed in all we do!
In 2nd and 7th hour, we have started to engage in a new creative writing experience during the week. Below are the first two picture prompts we responded to! This activity helps students use their imagination, improve their vocabulary and their use of descriptive details and imagery! Parents, ask your child to share theirs with you!
This week my 1st Hour students will begin presenting on an animal of their choice. Their focus will be on: Animal Adaptations! They have researched an animal and will help the class learn how they survive in the wild! We are using new vocabulary and expanding the knowledge we have gained through the texts explored in class!
