Monday is our picnic at Levagood park.  We will walk over around 9:30. Students are bringing a bag lunch and a water bottle.  We can bring toys like basketballs or soccer balls. Some students wanted to bring cookies or fruit like sliced watermelon to share.  All families are welcome to come to celebrate a great school year.

Thank you,

Mrs. Lahooti

Dear Families,

We are going on our last field trip tomorrow to the U of M Dearborn Environmental Interperate Center.  We will leave school at 10:30 and be back by 2:15. All students should come to school as usual. Parents going on the field trip should come to school at 10:30. They can pick up their child and follow the bus or use the map I will pass out.

Students should wear long pants and gym shoes with socks. Remember to pack a bag lunch and drink.  This is always a fun day and we are very excited to visit the nature in our community.

Thank you for your support.

Dear Families,
Tomorrow is the last PBIS celebration. We will celebrate positive behaviors with an all school picnic from 11:30 until 1:00. Students are encouraged to bring a blanket, or towel to sit on- a bagged lunch if possible-the cafeteria will also have sack-n-go carry outs, and some fun play equipment-like hula hoops, jump ropes, balls, etc. the weather forecast looks wonderful too. Please join us if you can stop by for part of our fun day.

NEXT MONDAY is the rescheduled FIELD DAY. More information will follow when the schedule is worked out.

NEXT TUESDAY is the 4th Grade Field Trip to the University of Michigan/Dearborn.

Thanks for your support and cooperation,

Mrs. Lahooti

Dear families,

We are Mstep testing for the next two weeks. If you would like to send in a healthy breakfast snack to share with the class it would be greatly appreciated. Items like granola bars, cheese sticks, and clementines would be welcomed.  We will take a Brain break and have a snack about an hour or so into the test each day.

Remember to have your child get a good night sleep and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning.  We won’t have homework this week to help with the stress that can come with testing.  Thank you for your support.

Mrs. Lahooti

Dear Families,

Next week we will be taking the math test for Mstep. Our specials have been moved to the afternoons so we have uninterrupted blocks of time Tuesday-Thursday.  The following week we will be taking the language Test.

We will not be having homework or any other testing except spelling during this time.   Also, the fourth grade teachers thought it might be fun to have a POETRY SLAM. Students have been looking for a poem that they like and that they can memorize. I am encouraging kids to have fun with this event-bring in props, act out the poem, be dramatic in the presentation. Hopefully it will provide us with a little levity in the afternoons next week. Students should be ready to SLAM their poems by next Friday.

Thank you,

Mrs. Lahooti

We had a wonderful market day on Friday. The class sold many creative designs and tasty treats. They have learned so much about supply and demand as well as goods and services in this economics unit of social studies. Thank you for all of the hard work and support from our parents. Check out the great pictures of our successful day.

We have finally finished with the NWEA testing! Next week we have a regular schedule and then the following week we will be taking the MStep. We take a lot of breaks because testing can be so stressful.

* Remember that Friday is Market Day. Students are very excited to sell the products they have made. You are welcome to come and shop –  “money” will be given at the door.
* we have one more field trip planned for this year. Tuesday, June 6, we will be going to the University of Dearborn Nature Center. Since it is nearby, we would like chaperones to drive their own children. This is a fun trip because the college students run a pond study program and the kids get to scoop out frogs and bugs to study. More information will be coming. Chaperones must have a background check on file in the office.
Thank you for your support.

For the rest of the school year students are welcome to learn about any of the content presented on Mrs. Renz Masteryclub site.  Students can research something they would like to learn. When they have mastered it they will show me. This is not mandatory but is a fun way to seek out new knowledge.

Market Day is on a Friday, May 5 from 12:30 until 3:00. You are invited to come during this event and do a little shopping.
Each person will get 20 dollars in play money for shopping. Also, other family are invited to join the fun-grandparents and extended family members and or friends are also encouraged to attend. We need Shoppers!

Students will have time in class to work on their market day projects. Students can bring in supplies and keep them at school. They can work during indoor recess, free time and Monday and Friday afternoons at 3:00.

Many parents have had an older student involved in Market Day. You know what a big event this can be. Student companies create a store-they set up an inviting display of their products which might include table cloths, colorful baskets, cool signs or price lists. Student companies are competing with each other to earn the most money or create the most unique product.

Students have been earning “Lahooti Loot” for various jobs in the classroom. This can be used to pay their bills and to buy merchandise on Market Day.  More information will be posted as we get closer to May 5th.

Thank you for your support.
