Weekly Update 6-1-2020

6th Grade: 1) Online Learning Series #22 Voice over lesson on Work/ Power. Take notes and write and answer the follow up questions at the bottom of the pages.

2) Create/Download a Venn Diagram comparing Electric Motors and Electric Generators. Each of the three Sections should have at least 4 facts in complete sentences.

7th Grade: 1) Online Learning Series #25 Voice over Lesson on Earth Science. Take good notes, Then Write and answer the follow up questions on the lesson.

2) Online Learning Series #26 Create / Download a Venn diagram comparing Convergent boundaries and Divergent boundaries. Each of the three sections should have at least four facts in complete sentences.

8th Grade: 1) Online Learning Series #28 Voice over Lesson on The Study of Space. Take good notes, Write and answer the follow up questions.

2) Online Learning Series #29 Create/ Download a Venn Diagram comparing Reflection Telescopes and Refraction Telescopes. Each of the three sections should have 4 or more facts in complete sentences.

Weekly Update 5-26-2020

6th Grade: 1) Voice Over lesson on Forces and Simple Machines/ Follow up Questions.

2) For each of the 6 Simple Machines Write the following: What the function does the machine have? What is its mechanical Advantage? List 5 examples of each simple machine. Due Friday

7th Grade 1) Do the voice over Review Lesson Unit 7.4 / Answer the study questions in the slide show.

2) Do the Summative Reflection questions on Unit 7.4 Make sure you do the voice over review before answering these. Due Friday

8th Grade 1) Do the voice over lesson on Gravity and Kepler’s Laws. Answer the follow up questions that follow.

2) Do the CK-12 Interactive questions. This assignment is Summative. Go through the entire simulation and the fully answer the follow up questions that follow.

Weekly Wrap-Up 5-18-20

6th Grade 1) Voice over Lesson- Newton’s Laws in the Real world/Question. Watch the lesson, take good note, Answer the questions.

2) PHET Simulation Forces and Motion Basics. Print the guiding questions. The go through all four sections of the Simulation. Answer the follow up questions as you go.

7th Grade: 1) Voice over lesson CHNOPS elements. Watch the lesson, take good notes, and then write and answer the follow up questions that follow.

2) Bozeman Science video / Summary Watch the video on Biochemical Cycles, take notes, Identify/ explain the 6 main points of the video . No one sentence answers. Give details on the 6 points.

8th Grade: 1 ) Voice over lesson The Electromagnetic Spectrum. Watch the lesson, take good notes, Answer the follow up questions.

2) Bozeman Video: Electromagnetic Radiation . Watch the video, take good notes, Identify/Explain the 6 main points of the video. No one sentence answers. Give details for each of the 6 points.

Hangouts or Office Hours This Week.

Do to the problems with Google Meets last week I will NOT be holding hangouts or office hours this week. While I figure out how to implement a new meetings program. If you have a question follow this pathway: 1) Read the instructions again. 2) Think about what it says/means? 3) Check your notes on the topic. 4) Re-watch the voice over lesson. 4) Email mail me if your stuck on something. BTW Science Fair information for the sections is on my regular google classroom and The actual assignment is on the Electronic Google Classroom. Mr. Miller

6th Grade: 1. Online Learning Series #12 Voice over Power point on DNA. Reflection Questions.

2. Work on and finish your science fair project. Due May 4th.

7 Grade: Online Learning Series #14 Voice over power point on Natural Cycles. Then do reflection questions that follow.

8th Grade: Online Learning Series #15 Voice over power point on The Jovian Planets. Then do the reflection questions that follow.

Online Learning Series #16 NASA 3- D Exploration Activity. Students go to the NASA web page, and research information on 15 Solar System bodies.

Online Learning Series #17 M-Star Share Your Idea power point and Summative reflection questions.

Online Learning Series Week #5

6th Grade: 1. Voice over power point on The Nervous System and Neurons. Students are to listen/take notes/ answer key questions in the power point.

2. Engineering a Solution Students are to watch a M-STAR / CDC video and then research which method would be best for a cure. Note: all four methods must be researched.

7th Grade: 1. Voice over power point on Cycles. Students are to listen/take notes/answer key questions in the power point.

2. Venn diagram comparing the cycles of a Butterfly and a Water bottle. You must have 4-5 sentences on the sides and 3 in the middle section.

3. A) NGSS Reading on Copper. B) Answer the reflections questions on the reading.

8th Grade: 1. Voice over power point on The Terrestrial Planets. Student are to listen/ take notes/ and answer key questions in the power point.

2. Triple Venn Diagram on 3 terrestrial planets. Write at least 4-5 answers in the spaces provided.

3. A) Read 8.7 on The atmosphere of Venus B) Answer the 3 M-star questions C) Answer the reflection question on the word doc.

Online Learning Series Week #4

6th grade: 1) Watch 3 Bozeman videos on Neurons, The Brain, and Nervous System. Create a KWL for each video.

2) Watch the PHET simulation on Neurons then answer the reflection questions.

7th Grade 1. Read the power point 7.4 on cycles. The do a compare and contrast essay comparing a Butterfly’s cycle with a water bottle cycles.

2. Read Share your ideas and do the follow up questions on the selection.

3. Read Secret Life of a Cell Phone. Do research on the properties of the 6 most used elements of a cell phone.

8th Grade 1. Do 8.7 Undercover Temperature Graphs and answer follow up questions.

2. Watch the NASA video on Greenland. Then do the reflection questions afterwards.

3. Read the Graphic Data on The Great Lake Levels and create a CER about the data.

Online Learning Series Week #3

6th Grade : #6 Read the Newsela article about The Digestive System/ Write a 2-3 paragraph summary about what you learned. Then turn into Goggle Classroom.

#7 Watch the 3 provided videos on Body Systems and do a KWL for each video. Submit it on goggle classroom.

7th #6 Read the Newsela article on The Conservation of Energy in Nature. The write a 2-3 paragraph on what you learned about the topic. Submit it on goggle classroom.

#7 Watch the 3 videos provided then do a KWL for each video. Then submit it to goggle classroom.

8th Grade: #6 Read the Newsela article on The Climate Change Debate. Then do a CER by choosing Greta or Naomi’s point of view.

#7 Watch the 3 videos provided then do a KWL for each video.

Special Note: Stay safe and find time for the finer things in life. Like: Family, learning, or things you didn’t normally have time to do. JM

Online Learning Series – Week Two

6th Grade: Assignment #4 Watch 3 M-Star videos on Ebola, Viruses, and spinach leaves. Then do a KWL about each video. See Google classroom for the details.

Assignment #5 Work on Data collection for your up and coming Science Fair project . Nothing to hand it. Just save it for later when we do the middle part of the board.

7th Grade: Assignment #4 M-Star Home assessment activity and questions. Observe/ Infer and answer the provided questions on the 4 houses shown. Details on goggle classroom.

Assignment #5 Start data collection for your Science fair project. Nothing to hand in, but save your results you will need them when we do the middle part of the science fair project

8th Grade: Assignment #4 PHET simulation on the Greenhouse effect/ Questions. Details on goggle classroom.

Assignment #5 Research/ CER on the Goldilocks Theory Details are on goggle classroom.

NOTE: Everyone stay home and stay safe! I’ve been asked what I’ve been doing lately so here’s my answer: Watching movies, Netflix, and Reading the book Until The End Of Time by Scientist Brian Greene.
