Dear 2nd Grade Students,

Happy First Day of School!! I am so excited to have you in my class and I can’t wait to meet you on Thursday during orientation!

I know this school year is starting out very differently but ONE thing that is the same for me is – the first day of school JITTERS!!

We use the word jitters to mean that we are nervous, and teachers get nervous just like students.

Today you will listen to a story called First Day Jitters, after you listen to the story you will write a sentence and draw a picture. You will bring your paper to school on Thursday during orientation.

First: click the link to listen to the story First Day Jitters.

Second: You will write a sentence to describe how you feel about the first day of school, then you will draw a picture to show how you feel about the first day of school.

I feel _____________________ about the first day of school.

Click the link below, you can print the page to write and draw on, or you can find a blank piece of paper to write and draw on. When you are done keep it and bring it to orientation on Thursday.

Welcome To Second Grade

Hello!  My name is Mrs. Hammoud.  Welcome to my second grade class!  I am very excited to be your teacher for the upcoming school year.  This year has brought a lot of change and while we will be starting back remotely, I am looking forward to working with you and your family this year.

In the upcoming school year, the safety of our students is our very top priority. Miller will be implementing many new school-wide safety precautions based on state, local, district and CDC health guidelines as a part of our district’s Return to School Plan. I will keep you updated on the Return to School Plan as our school works with your family to provide a meaningful learning experience for your child!

This year, our district will be transitioning to a new Learning Management System called Schoology.  I will be sharing information about how your child will be able to log in and access grade level assignments, resources, and materials next week as a part of our orientation next week.  There will be a materials distribution day for my class on Thursday, September 3, 2020. If I did not schedule an appointment please email at hammouh@dearbornschools.org to set up a time.  I will be able to provide you with more information about the new school year as well as materials that we will be using for the start of school.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have at  hammouh@dearbornschools.org  and stay tuned to the https://miller.dearbornschools.org/  for more information about the first week of school.

I look forward to meeting you soon and wish you and your family a great start to the new school year.

Last Day of School!!

We made it! Summer vacation has begun!

I have enjoyed having each and every one of you in my class! I know this was an unusual year with remote learning, but all of you embraced it with positivity. I want to sincerely THANK all parents for the support this year, especially this last quarter of the year.  We’ve all done the best we could given the circumstances. Please continue to support your child over the summer by encouraging them to read daily and practice their math facts. Students can use the IReady program all summer long and are encouraged to do so. Students were given a math packet last week during material pickup. They should be completing some pages each day in order to complete the entire packet by the end of summer. Zearn will also be available for math practice and review.

Thank you again for a wonderful year. I hope you have a safe, fun, and enjoyable summer! I want you to be prepared for third grade! I believe in you!
