Week of June 1st

This is our last week of assignments for the year.

Please go to the Dearborn Public Schools website, then to the Student Portal and login to your ILearn Classrooms. Select your Global Studies 6th Grade Flack Class, then open the Common Assessment End Review. The quiz has 20 questions with a combination of multiple choice, drag and drop, and matching. Answer all questions on the quiz and then select finish attempt. The quiz covers Five Themes of Geography, Tools of Geography, The Great Lakes Regions, Government, use your notes from these sections to help you with the quiz.

Please complete the quiz by Sunday, June 7th. Do your best!

Week of May 18

Hello All.

This week in Global Studies we will begin to explore Australia.

In our Google Classroom you will find an introduction to Australia video with questions that accompany the video.

You will also view CNN 10 and respond to directions with the assignment.

This weekend we celebrate Memorial Day. Enjoy Friday and Monday vacation from school.

Week of May 11th

Hello All- I hope you each had a relaxing weekend.

Head to our Google Classroom to view assignments for the week.

You will find a CNN 10 video to watch and an assignment to complete with the video. Please note- I have changed the assignment that corresponds with the video.

Additionally, there is a Latin America Review with Map Skills questions to read and answer.

Both assignments are due on Sunday, May 17th.

Week of May 4th

You have a CNN 10 video to watch and an assignment to complete with the video.

There is a Photo Project to complete for the Latin American country you have been researching. Six photos with descriptions.

Both assignments are due on Sunday.

Week of April 27th

In our Google Classroom you will find a CNN 10 assignment to complete by Sunday.

You will continue to work on your Latin American Country project. Open your Country Project document and you will notice that I made comments on the work you have completed so far. This is due Sunday as well.

A heads up for next week: You will be adding images with descriptions from your Latin American country to a new document. Keep an eye out for amazing pictures from your country while you continue to research.

Google Meet Information

Google Meet Information

Our team will be using Google Meet with our classes. This will give you an opportunity to see your teacher (over your computer using a website or through the Google Meet app), ask any questions about the work, have a discussion and see your classmates.

Teachers will be posting assignments on Mondays and work will be due on Sundays. Check Google Classroom for assignments.

To join a Google Meet:

  1. In a web browser, enter https://meet.google.com (or download the Google Meet app on your smartphone/iPad)
  2. Click “Join or Start a Meeting” (you will be joining a meeting)
  3. Enter the nickname of the Google Meet (nickname will be emailed to your Dearborn Public Schools email account 5 minutes before the start of the Google Meet by your teacher) and posted to the stream in your Google Classroom.

Google Meet Etiquette Guide for Students:

  1. Dress appropriately.
  2. Find a quiet space with an appropriate background.
  3. Have notebook and pen/pencil on hand for taking notes.
  4. When you enter the Google Meet turn off your microphone by muting yourself (if you are already not muted).
  5. When you have a question, type in the textbox and wait for your teacher to call on you.
  6. When you have something to contribute to what is being said, but it is not your turn, use the chat feature in the right-hand corner. 
  7. Wait for the teacher to call on you to unmute yourself. 
  8. Only one student should contribute/talk at a time
  9. Look into the camera when you are talking.
  10. Stay attentive. Pay attention to your teacher or other students who are speaking.
