November News

The month of November was very busy and fun in room 104. We explored eggs while learning about the letter Ee. We did some experiments putting eggs in different liquids and observing how those liquids changed the egg. We also tried out a Humpty Dumpty experiment to see how tall the wall would have to be before an egg like Humpty would crack up. While learning about the letter Ff we learned a fun new song about frogs, we played a dancing game with feathers, we made fruit loops into a necklace, and read stories about fish! While learning about the letter Gg we got to plan with silly glasses, we made structures with grapes and toothpicks, and we wrote stories about gumballs. Towards the end of November we took a walk around the neighborhood and went shopping at a local market. We purchased fruit from the store and used the fruit to make a delicious fruit salad. We brought the fruit salad to a Thanksgiving lunch with our friends in room 103. We shared a meal and then talked about things we are thankful for.  Stay tuned next month for more adventures from room 104!

October In Room 104

During the month of October we had lots of fun in room 104. We explored bubbles, balls, balloons, and buttons as we learned about the letter Bb. We also had fun with cookies and caterpillars while learning about the letter Cc (ask your student about “Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar.”) When we learned about the letter Dd we played with dinosaurs, decorated donuts, and played math games with dice. We had a wonderful parent meeting where we discussed routines. And we had fall harvest fun painting pumpkins, making pumpkins with play dough, gathering leaves, and talking about the changes we have seen outside in the fall.

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years. Read more: Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

Welcome to Room 104!

Hello! I’m so excited for our new school year! The students are doing an amazing job learning the rules and routines in preschool! Here is a look at what we have accomplished so far!

We have learned about emotions and that it’s OK to feel  happy, sad, silly, and angry. We have discussed proper ways of dealing with anger and learned about when it’s OK to be silly at school and when we need to be more serious! We are also working on supporting others when they are sad at school and, sharing toys with other classmates. We have focused on learning about the classroom and how to use the toys and how to put them away when we are done. We are also learning about manners during meal times and working together to keep the class room clean and safe.

In October we will be beginning our letter of the week starting with the letter Aa. We will be learning about things that happen in the fall, like apple picking, pumpkins ripening, leaves changing colors, and temperatures getting colder.

Please be sure to take walks outside with your preschoolers and help them to notice the fall changes that all happening all around them.
