This year we will be implementing Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), which is not only a new curriculum but a new way of learning. The NGSS were designed to improve science education through three-dimensional learning. The three dimensions of the NGSS, Disciplinary Core Ideas, Crosscutting Concepts, and Science & Engineering Practices, are distinct but equally important. They work together to build a comprehensive understanding of science over time.
Why NGSS? Having a high-quality science education means that students will develop an in-depth understanding of content and develop key skills—communication, collaboration, inquiry, problem solving, and flexibility—that will serve them throughout their educational and professional lives.
I organized the standards we will be covering this year, so take a look at what we will be learning! NGSS 7th Grade
